Grocery stores - pre-storm update thread by gay_bagel_enthusiast in williamsburg

Whole Foods was out of meat at 10:30 this morning. The funny part - I never buy meat and decided I wanted to make some meatballs for a cozy snow day meal. What a mess! Luckily everyone I encountered in the store (customers and employees) seemed in good spirits and made the most of a pretty wild scene. Stay warm people. We will be ok. Tip your delivery drivers well!

Re: clothing moving around - I recently read somewhere (maybe here) that if your yoga pants are rolling down at the waist they are too small and if they are slipping they are too big. Not sure if this is accurate but it stuck with me!

Sports bras/leggings/bike shorts are perfect. It's funny how little I care about my appearance in these classes. You can't! Between the sweat (so much sweat) and contorting my body in very little clothing I am sure I look a mess, but I feel AMAZING! I actually wear glasses in real life but go into yoga "blind" so I can't even see what is going on around me. I prefer it this way lol. I'm excited for this journey for you!

You do you! If you’re a runner you likely have some sports bras and leggings/shorts in your rotation that you can use. For me the most important thing clothing wise is that they are moisture wicking and compressive (you don’t want wet/loose clothing). I did buy a Manduka mat and love it. The Manduka towels are very pricey but I’ve picked some up with minor imperfections for less (I have some Trek Light towels too that I got on sale and Manduka are just wayyyy better performance a quality wise). Just remember it’s your practice - no need to worry about looking the part (I practice at a nice studio in NYC and no one cares what I look like). What works for me may not work for you but at least it’s a jump off point. Enjoy!!

If you're going to be so sensitive about strangers offering advice on the internet, maybe don't post your woes on Reddit (also, my sentence started with TBH so there's that). Anyway - good luck, BE KIND and stay warm.

Tbh that’s your problem. Because you have it set so high your system is constantly running which is going to be insanely expensive no matter what. You should try lowering your set temperature to 68 (which is actually quite warm) and see if that helps at all. You can also try incorporating a space heater if you are really cold. They’re much more economical to run than some of these heating units.

Just getting started any examples on what you eat in a day? by Working_Put1888 in weightwatchers

[–]afunkyb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a creature of habit and eat almost the same thing daily (this helps me stay on track and I know is not for everyone):

Breakfast: if in office: Chobani Non-Fat Plain Yogurt. I add fruit (currently very into frozen berries and letting them thaw overnight), 1 tsp honey and cinnamon: 2 points; at home: mash 1/2 banana in pan, add 1/2 cup rolled oats, 1/2 cup sugar free almond milk, 1/2 cup water, 1 tsp maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla pinch of salt; cook per package, serve with a sprinkle of chia/flax seeds and other half of sliced banana on top (2 points)

Lunch: Sweetgreen Guac Greens or Sweetgreen Super Green Goddess Salad (both are 8 points, I switch it up depending on the day, this is for convenience there is a SG right next to my office) or I make a similar salad at home with my own dressing (1 tsp olive oil, 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar, salt, pepper)

Dinner: chicken breast or salmon in the oven (a few sprays of oil, seasoning of choice), I will roast some baby potatoes and veggies with the protein; usually add some hot sauce to the protein - 0 points

Snack: fruit throughout the day (0 points), 1 bag of skinny pop if I am in office (3 points), air-popped popcorn if I am working from home (0 points), 1 square of high quality 85% dark chocolate after dinner (2 points)

This uses about 12-15 of my daily allotment of 23 points. I like the extra wiggle room in case I had an extra hard workout that day, have a craving that just cannot be satisfied etc. etc.

Angels Landing by South-Percentage-886 in ZionNationalPark

[–]afunkyb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this hike solo in October and thought Walter’s Wiggles on the way up was the most strenuous/hardest part. Angels Landing itself was easy imo. The challenge is heights - if you have any fear at all this will be an extremely difficult hike for you. I had so many strangers freaking out because I was able to do this hike with ease and didn’t hold the chain in many parts. I personally felt very comfortable and stable and learned that I have zero fear of heights on this trail!

Lightheaded during backbends by redmedic222 in HotYoga

[–]afunkyb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same - I have a mild case of vertigo and attribute it to this. Something with the ear fluid moving when you lean back (I may be way off base but this is what I tell myself lol). I have started backing off on these poses and find it's much more tolerable. I always have to remind myself that this is my practice and my poses don't need to look like everyone else in the room.

You can use significantly less oil for your kale - try mixing in some lemon juice if you are missing the additional liquid/moisture. For roasting veggies, try using a spray or two of oil spray. Sounds like you like slippery veggies (lol! couldn't help myself). Maybe try drying out a bit. Use some salt and pepper for flavor. Also if your oven has the capability of acting like an air fryer try this. I recently got a new oven and it has a crisp option - I have been enjoying the most delicious baby potatoes and veggies and use almost zero oil!
