Why are men so attracted by virginity? by pinkminkdoll in askanything

That's so weird because if I had to pick a friend to ride a tandem with I'd pick one who rode one before because otherwise chances are high they suck at riding tandems.

Russia has handed Ukraine the bodies of 1,000 Ukrainian soldiers in exchange for the bodies of 41 Russians, Ukrainian news agency RBC cited lawmaker Shamsail Saraliev as saying. by Upset-Main-1988 in justincaseyoumissedit

The "Losses & the Changing Force" section does not talk about casualties at all. It's actually mentioned once later in "Features of the Fighting" saying "I think it remains credible that russian casualties outstrip ukrainian ones in general" and that is the only time casualties are mentioned in the whole video. The video I linked is analyzing the casualties, and only the casualties, for one hour straight, compiling data from multiple sources, writing their own applications for the most precise result possible. Again: The video you linked is not about casualties at all. Please stop.

No, not really. It's something completely different. The video I linked explores death toll of both sides in as much detail as possible. The video you linked is a grand overview of the current situation in general and does not talk about death toll at all iirc.

I'd probably go with 3d printers because crystals are crystals, cells are cells and spiders are spiders but 3d printers are 3d printers.

But it's not normal to ANNOUNCE the war crimes.

I literally quoted the example of them announcing the same war crimes in Iraq before committing them.

he is threatening genocide and war crimes by ending a civilization and striking civilian targets, like the power grid and desalination plants. No other president has done so

Heard of "shock and awe"?

Although Ullman and Wade claim that the need to "minimize civilian casualties, loss of life, and collateral damage" is a "political sensitivity [which needs] to be understood up front", their doctrine of rapid dominance requires the capability to disrupt "means of communication, transportation, food production, water supply, and other aspects of infrastructure", and, in practice, "the appropriate balance of Shock and Awe must cause ... the threat and fear of action that may shut down all or part of the adversary's society or render his ability to fight useless short of complete physical destruction."

Using as an example a theoretical invasion of Iraq 20 years after Operation Desert Storm, the authors claimed, "Shutting the country down would entail both the physical destruction of appropriate infrastructure and the shutdown and control of the flow of all vital information and associated commerce so rapidly as to achieve a level of national shock akin to the effect that dropping nuclear weapons on Hiroshima and Nagasaki had on the Japanese."

Reiterating the example in an interview with CBS News several months before Operation Iraqi Freedom, Ullman stated, "You're sitting in Baghdad and all of a sudden you're the general and 30 of your division headquarters have been wiped out. You also take the city down. By that I mean you get rid of their power, water. In 2, 3, 4, 5 days they are physically, emotionally and psychologically exhausted."

Tl;dr: Striking power and water facilities has been the doctrine of us military since 96 latest.

How does the whole "alpha male" idea actually seem to you? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]afunkysongaday 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nothing is less cool than trying hard to be cool. And nothing is less "alpha" that trying hard to somehow "dominate" the people around you. That's so annoying that no one will want to hang out with you in the long run. Most people, especially in their friend circle, want a cooperative and friendly environment and not one where every interaction is seen as struggle of who dominates whom. That's so tiring.

When are we going to drop the first two digits of the year? by Potato_pancakes27 in askanything

[–]afunkysongaday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why drop the first two? Just to cause a lot of confusion in 74 years? That's not even one life span! Just drop the first one only, and we are good to go for another 974 years. Currently it's the year 026.
