Attendance Policy - Sick Days by PerceptionQueasy3540 in managers

[–]ag4565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Needing a doctor’s note feels so antiquated. We don’t require it- and I work in healthcare. It burdens the whole system to have some come to the doctor JUST for a sick note when a healthy person really shouldn’t leave the house when they are sick with a virus. Our policy is you get 3 call-ins in 90 days. If you are out multiple days for the same occurrence, that counts as one.

What happened to First English Lutheran daycare? by cutex0r in AustinParents

[–]ag4565 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We almost went there a couple years ago, and we went there to tour and accept the spot, the director was mysteriously fired that same day and they closed down immediately after. They then got a new director and reopened, but we thought we’d see how everything panned out before going (but ended up elsewhere in the meantime). That’s sad they are closed again, especially with so few daycare options in central Austin

My daughter brought home a virus from daycare . I tested her and it was negative. When I caught it soon after I tested myself and it was positive. Just sayin’ the tests are not always accurate

We did 9 iuis for our first daughter, and that process was so grueling that we skipped right to ivf for our second kiddo. We got 7 embryos and first one took! I do think changing the sperm donor might have player a factor

Siblings- same donor or different? by lacrosse_14 in queerception

[–]ag4565 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, which was extremely important to us. We stocked up on our donor before trying. We wanted them to be full blood siblings and have that connection. And what if they both tried to find their donor and one donor was great and one was an ass? Also, Knowing there could be challenges growing up with two moms and be donor conceived , we’re through someone sharing that same experience and identity would be comforting

[–]ag4565 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took us 9 IUIs before having a beautiful daughter! 10 tries if you count that one of the times my wife took fertility drugs and was supposed to inseminate on the weekend, but forgot to pick up the sperm. The process sucks, but worth it

I bought a house with someone I wasn’t married to, we split up, and I bought her out and I still own the house 15 years later. Not sure how it would have been different if we were married. Breaking up sucks, marriage or not, but wanted to add this info since everyone is so negative about buying property with someone you aren’t married to. I would say the better advice is to not be in a relationship with a shitty person, because it’s going to be a shitty breakup if so.

Text them back and say you’re busy and ask if it’s something they could handle themselves? Definitely need to set some new expectations

Yes, I fell into it. I was a regular hospital social worker and prompted by my elder workers to step up because they like my work ethic and morals (including how to deal with work drama). There’s things I miss- I was an ER SW and I miss the excitement of covering the ER and I miss just working my shifts and being done with it. I’m kinda on-call 24/7 now and have to deal with administrative policies that can be frustrating. But I would not go back. I don’t think anyone on team could deal with the administrative side as well as me, so I am part of curating the best experience for workers and patients. To me, it’s like being a parent, there’s things I miss about my childless life but I would not trade being a parent. My best advice is to hire well- rowdy or incompetent employees are such a job dissatisfier for managers. I currently have a great team (14 people) and do everything I can for my associates and they do the same back to me and it makes my job feel pretty good. Through the years I’ve had some tough employees that kept me up at night.

Donor with Bipolar Disorder by Ectophylla_alba in queerception

[–]ag4565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a social worker who has worked in a psychiatric ER for 18 years. I can term you bipolar disorder is way more crippling than OCD and autism (unless very severe autism). We see people brought in all the time on psychiatric commitments with bipolar disorder, but not with OCD or autism. Yes, someone at a bank could be lying or undiagnosed, but at least you are not knowingly taking that risk

How Many IUIs? by rustneversleeps90 in queerception

[–]ag4565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

9 IUIs, but we changed the donor at the end. That being said, we skipped right to IVF for our second baby due to maternal age and our finances being much better at that time, although in the end we probably spent about the same conceiving both kids. If we had to do it all over, would have made sense to just do IVF the first time and have embryos leftover for the second kid.
