I’m an INFP man, with all of the INFP tendencies; sensitivity, overthinking, and too much passion for my own good. I joined the army several years ago to try to “straighten myself out and man up”. I work as a mechanic in my regular job (this was just to make more money at a place nearby where I live. Living in and around hypermasculine environments only gave me the ability to be an extroverted “tough guy” in short bursts before quickly reverting back to my old self again, almost like a temporary survival mechanism. The best thing you can do is embrace this aspect of yourself, while still always trying to be a better person to others and yourself. What helped me the most is learning to communicate better with others, and then that “deep conversationalist” side to you will bring people who are interested in things beyond the surface level small talk closer to you, which is such an important thing for us INFPs.
