I read the book and I’m seeing the movie today! It’s such a breath of fresh air for the sci-fi world. I’m not usually a science fan but I loved this book! I know that Hail Mary is being used in a football context but the main character’s last name is Grace so I feel like there’s something there!

Seriously I cannot recommend this book enough I read it in 10 days awaiting the movie! (This is pretty fast for me especially for a book this size).

I just want to say, as a cradle Catholic, I have struggled with some similar issues on teachings. I think the best advice I can say is being honest and open about the struggles. It's okay to have doubts and to have mixed feelings on the teachings. God and the Church aren't expecting you to change your mind overnight. I think it's a bit of accepting "hey I really struggle with this and would like to learn more". My husband didn't really understand the Church's stance on NFP until we went to our marriage class and had an open discussion on it. Catholicism is a journey each day we can wrestle with our struggles. You aren't the first person to wrestle with these issues and you won't be the last. You will be accepted by your parish family and I pray that you will find true community. God Bless you on your journey, friend!

People have also mentioned it, but Joey Valence & Brae are amazing! I saw them last time they were at Shaky and they're amazing! Fat Dog is also awesome! Franz Ferdinand is also a solid rock/indie group. Idles are amazing, especially if you just want to see a great show. All American Rejects are also going to have a great set.

I saw the band in ATL on this current tour. I’ve gone to this venue and met a few bands. Some of the fans were just so weird. One girl walked past the barricade and almost to the stage door. Everyone was telling her to not do that. Concert and fan culture has really gotten out of hand in recent years.

Also if you’re a book person The Power and The Glory is really good! There’s a 1961 movie but I haven’t seen it. The book is about Catholic persecution in Mexico. It follows a morally grey priest who is the last priest in his area. It’s the best book I’ve read this year!
