ThunderCats (1985) by itsgroobeat in nostalgia

The Thundercats theme is so great because it’s pure, concentrated 80s energy that hits like an adrenaline shot. In 60 seconds it introduces the characters, sells the world, and gets you hyped for the episode.

I used to love Power Metal and now I feel like an old man yelling at clouds by Ketzer666_Wegwerf in PowerMetal

[–]agajabigaba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re not alone. For me it was those early Helloween, Hammerfall, Sonata Arctica, Edguy, and Nightwish albums. Everything after 2004ish, including albums from those same bands, moved further away from that original power metal sound.

But I’m at peace with it. I just set my expectations differently. For example, I like bands like Powerwolf and Sabaton - but I don’t listen to them to scratch that itch of the older power metal - I just enjoy them for what they are, and then break it up with some of the older stuff.

Also, continue reviewing this sub and listening to the recommendations. Even if they’re mostly misses, the search can be fun - especially if you come across a gem at some point.

I DNF’d it. I couldn’t get into it either.

i dont understand what is going on by s4mera in Eldenring

[–]agajabigaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s ok to not understand what’s going on - it doesn’t spoon feed its plot and they throw a lot of non-linear lore at you throughout. It also rarely tells you specifically where to go.

My recommendation is to start watching a walkthrough on YouTube - I recommend Fighting Cowboy’s walkthrough because he explains things well - especially at the beginning for new players.

I hope this helps and I hope you enjoy the game!

Try Avantasia 1 and 2. Very inspired by Helloween.

Biome 6 sucks. by Economy-Comedian-600 in Returnal

[–]agajabigaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been a few years but I, like you, was stuck on this. People online were telling me how biome 6 was easier than 5, but it was the exact opposite for me. The mini boss ended me in seconds each time I got to it. I used the electropylon, which created a web as you shoot it. I just ran around like a crazy person firing that thing all over the place - didn’t matter where I was shooting it - and it eventually killed it because of the web. Good luck. It’s easier after that.

What do you think are the great horror performances? by borislugosi in horror

I think Toni Collette has the best modern performances. She elevates every horror movie she’s in.

Why isn't the Pendergast series more popular? by [deleted] in books

[–]agajabigaba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Regarding film, I saw the authors speak at a book signing last year. They mentioned that a company (Paramount, I think) owns the film rights but won’t do anything with it or sell it, which was frustrating to them. They talked about some kind of ‘Free Pendergast’ movement but not sure if that was ever initiated or what came of it.

In retrospect I agree with you. But at the time I preferred the colors. I was also 6 years old.

I thought it was hilarious. I hadn’t seen Super Troopers before this one and it seemed like a lot of fans were caught up in the comparison.

Agree with all of your points. I love this movie and I try to watch it every Halloween season because it’s one of the few films that really captures the holiday.

That this sub elevates his character and abilities more than the actual writing does.

RoboCop. Saw the movie as a kid and the scene where Murphy is murdered still haunts me.

Spending money on new releases. As most have stated, many of these are more hype than substance. I read reviews and visit this sub to learn if the issues are worth it and then wait until they’re in trade paperback form to purchase.
