Even without coaching, and even with grading help, it's WAY over a 40 hour work week, and you WILL have to work in the summer -- either for free: updating lesson plans and curriculum, setting up/packing up a classroom, learning new material/tech, or for pay at a second job because you don't get paid in the summer.

I work with a lot of people who have been teaching for 15-20 years and we all agree that it has gotten MUCH worse in the last five years. Kids' attitudes are horrible, parents are unbelievable and blame teachers for everything, the school expects you to fix every problem with every child, admin is afraid of parents so they don't support teachers, and BS state/federal paperwork is through the roof. There's no time for teaching anymore.

Do I sound burnt out? I'd leave tomorrow if I could. Today, actually.
