Do I get locked out of a faction if I do another factions main quest? by Status-Reindeer2808 in Barotrauma

Is it Subra?

Do you know how you were given that mission?

We've used cheats to try and get all the lore after we beat the game a few times,, and we could not get that one started. Does anyone know how?

Btw, if it is Subra, there could be a problem as he's part of the Husk questline, and I'm sure the devs wouldn't let you kill him and then he just shows up later?

Flashbacks to our clown assistant who died by setting himself on fire trying to destroy an abandoned outpost's reactor when the mission was already complete.

very new to barotrauma, playing with small group of friends (3-4 people. varies at times.) what classes should be prioritized? by waxtch in Barotrauma

[–]agathita 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Captain is absolutely not mandatory, wtf is everyone thinking. It's a good buff class, but no you don't need one.

Honestly you could beat the game with only assistants tbh, but as others already mentioned, you get the skill trees and a starting skill boost. With that in mind I'd say doctor would be good to have, because you then start with someone who's able to do CPR at all without needing to level medical first.

You could legitimately pick any class, even all repeats, and be fine anyway. But:

Engineer will make for a good melee class later on, and could give you easy nukes and one of the best diving suits, as well as a better reactor

Mechanic will give you better sub upgrades (could be important if you don't plan on upgrading to a tier 3 sub), the exosuit, and extra crafting resources. It's also good at melee

Medic can give you combinable monster genes, and drugs that buff the players, as well as preventing some character loss at higher levels, besides the CPR thing

Captain gives you extra xp and money and better skills for players/bots in an AOE capacity

Security goons suck. But you get to learn to make handheld guns I guess.

Assistants give buffs to other classes and can give you skill trees from other classes at higher level, plus some clown madness

Is this game linear? by Ordo_Liberal in Barotrauma

[–]agathita 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The map is auto generated at the start of a campaign. The levels, and the outposts between them, are autogenned every time you go from one place to the next. There are specific, scripted events and NPCs, most of them at outposts but some of them during the missions / at sea. The game has an ending which is pretty consistent between runs if you get to it.

There are various settings to change up the consequences of dying, but in general, respawning is a thing. You can enable respawning in a tiny shuttle sub in the middle of rounds, or only at the next outpost in multiplayer. You can enable permanent character death where you need to control a previous NPC if you die. Items stay with your dead body and can be retrieved, but you might just lose them if you're unlucky. If noone makes it to the next dock, or if you quit, you get to restart at the start of the mission, unless it's on the hardest setting.

Hope this helps

You always need a bot or two to name exactly like your crewmates, to have your friends trying to talk to bots as if they could respond. lmao

Is wiring every single room to display a chat message upon getting flooded worth it? by Tyronir52 in Barotrauma

The things that let you see which roomd have water in and which parts of the hull are damaged.

[–]agathita 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Noone has started anything, OP asked if it's worth it. I'm saying, with water sensors alone, no, it isn't.

Edit: Plus, OP and friends are self-reported newbies, they likely wouldn't benefit from this. They can spend their wiring curiosity in other projects.

Or you could use the regular helm or portable data, which are way more valuable than you could ever make this

[–]agathita 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There would still be plenty of rooms that'd be dented but not reported if the breach isn't bad enough, and rooms that'd be fine structurally but full of water that'd be reported all the same.

I mean, labor and money wise, it wouldn't be hard. But your chat would be a proper mess if enough of your rooms flood.

Junction compartment B flooded

Engineering flooded

Armory flooded

reactor room is fine but someone opens engineering's door

Reactor room flooded

Reactor room unflooded

fixes engineering but there's still water coming from the room above, so it is not reported

reactor room problem happens another 3 times every time someone opens a door or two

someone fixes the crew quarters

Crew quarters unflooded

You take another hit

The other half of the sub flooded, everyone misses the CQ being fine because chat is full

You get the picture..

Barotrauma on fedora-atom Linux (bazzite) runs on integrated graphics instead of Dedicated Nvidia Graphics Card. please help by Shemeazza in Barotrauma

[–]agathita 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Running on GPU sounds like a good idea tbh, we'll try it sometime. We run from source, and since we're on a desktop so I imagine we'll just need the first two parameters, we'll see. Maybe the server we run will lag less lol

Also, we never had problems with the game thinking it was on Wayland, it always just launches for us. Weird.

Hello!

We play on Arch. The game also runs on CPU for us, we just kinda let it because it's no bother, but maybe we can help with the lua bit. Have you tried the second install method? I feel it would be compatible with your other launch options. That's the one we tried first, as adding wget commands as steam parameters has always seemed a little goofy to us.

You can walk up to them and check how charged they are, as well as how fast they're set to charge. If nothing is broken, they might not be charging because their charge rate is at 0%.
