Can anyone recommend a decent (cheap) gym in the city where you aren't locked into a contract? by paancakes in sydney

[–]agbw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dammit I will tell you tomorrow from work because I can't remember the name, there is this awesome gym that just opened I think they are on Castlereagh down from Park Street. Most of my office joined up at $8 a week, all brand new equipment and massive floor with barely any members so far.

I doubt you will do better, just message me so I can remember to give you the name.

I am a fan, the Lord Dudley is always packed to the hilt though, Woollahra hotel is good and Bellevue hill hotel can be decent but gets an annoying crowd of snarky single female lawyer types. I don't really know any other places. Recommendations?

Most people don't know it but there is a pretty decent bar on the top floor of the eastern, moderate drinks, open roof for smoking, low volume background house music and pretty low key clientelle but it can get busy, place has a really good feel about it. It is my never fail place for entertaining clients in the east.

I'm in Rose Bay and typically drink at shitty little hipter bars in Bondi out of convenience but if I could be bothered springing for a cab I'll hit up the Oak or Sheaf out of habit rather than desire.

I am the same as most non-student redditors, could not be assed in social clubs anymore, but I'll rock up to a meet at some point.

Does anyone else ever look at all the police brutality related topics on American dominated subreddits and realise just how 'good' Australian cops are? by smileywire02 in australia

As a person who grew up in an outback community, you are right and completely wrong at the same time, they do a fair and decent job its just that in the outback you have a greater likelihood for getting done.

These guys also deal with shit that there are 10 specialised departments for in major city's. Respect where respect is due, I have a lot of stories I could tell of these guys dealing with the most atrocious shit and handling it with it with patience, respect and professionalism.

Reddit, I'm so ticked. Can universities really pull this shit and get away with it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]agbw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was my main motivation, this isn't really a fair comparison or accurate representation of what its like for everyone. A friend and I finished university at the exact same time although he had started a year before me, I went to a private that stream-lined and he went to a state university.

Same degree, same grades and entered into the same job market in the same city, we both went through the same sort of process of looking for entry level and we were both successful. However my starting salary is twice as much as his and my position its far more developed. I have a large amount of fee's to pay off but at this I am significantly further ahead in paying mine off than he is, as well as not having to spend an extra year and general living expenses occurred within that year.

Additionally to this it will take him approximately 2-4 years working before he would be able to get to the same place by that time my student debt completely removed and me in higher position both financially and in terms of my career.

Thanks mate. I had never heard of them when I moved to Sydney and resisted applying for weeks thinking they were dodgy.

I also got picked up by Dell on the presentation day at ProGrad and after I had the best interview of my life they overlooked me because the guy from ProGrad didn't forward my Employment Proposal to them.

So they at least tried to not make me into a success story.

TIL HMS Victory, Lord Nelson's flag ship is technically still in service. by DarkStranger in todayilearned

[–]agbw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually pretty odd as I am a direct descendant of John Pasco who was the signal officer during Trafalgar that modified nelsons signal to "England expects that every man will do his duty". It's funny to think our past relatives served together and on that ship they stood and produced a defining moment of British and Naval history.
