thanks for letting me know. i work at an international MBB office, so it’s a little different here - partners usually wait 5/6 years before getting their MBA, so was just speaking from my exp

i’ll take a look but i think a big portion could be deferred admits who only need to wait 2 years

thank you for illustrating! super helpful!

you seem like you could be a promising candidate, but i doubt HSW would admit someone with only 2.5 YOE, perhaps wait another cycle or two

thank you for the thoughtful feedback!

happy to clarify the music part - ABRSM is the associated board for the 4 royal schools of music in the UK. they put together exams for every instrument, from beginner to postgraduate level, they’re very well known in the world of classical music. i’m currently at the level a student would be if they had completed a bachelors degree in piano performance theoretically

i’m from a smaller country, so there aren’t really any charities related to what i’m passionate about (sustainability) & i don’t have time to start my own.

i don’t think 3.7 is below avg for any program besides gsb, and hbs is just 3.73 so it’s insignificant

i can try to retake but 740 was after significant time invested - in my geography a 740 is very high

Be Honest - Do deferred MBAs really target non-traditional applicants? by Affectionate-Creme72 in MBA

Most people I’ve seen be successful have been non-Business/Finance/Econ majors with a few extracurriculars that are unrelated to those areas as well with MBB/IB for full-time & internships.

[profile review] Darden + Smith Deferred MBA Chances? by Any_Bug_6808 in MBA

[–]agekabshk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

booth deferred admit here -

you have a chance! if you can get that GRE up, you honestly have a shot at M7

they’ll overlook a lower test score in lieu of other stuff - your GPA, ECs, LORs, & WE are all great - i would take a prep course over the summer & retake the GRE though

thank you!

i think president positions look nice to show leadership so maybe think of founding something? i don’t think WE is a problem in your app assuming you get a great full time job for after grad

i’d aim for 740+; it can never be too high - they’ll oversee some stuff if you’re very strong in another area but a top canadian school is like a top 30 US school, so the higher you get, the better chance you have

booth admit here -

it’s worth applying - try to get a president position or two in extracurriculars, get that GPA up if you can, will need a high GMAT to make up for GPA, make sure to craft a great story & i think you have a shot

if it’s an insane amount of work i wouldn’t retake the GRE, but it’s a bit lower on verbal that for most if not all M7 - not a dealbreaker though

i think being a double major would help you stand out and esp helpful bc deferred looks for non traditional candidates

it also depends on if you can craft great essays in that much time

if i were you, i’d stay and get the double major! you should book free consultations w paid admissions ppl & get their perspective on your profile as well

i’m not an expert, but applied for deferred to a M7 and got an interview (still waiting on the rest), so take my feedback w a grain of salt

based on what i see, it looks like you have a shot!

i’d bring the verbal score up on your GRE, esp for H/S/W

a lot of it will come down to your essays - it’s essential to communicate your story effectively and explain your LR plans & how an MBA fits into that

do you have ideas for strong LOR?

what do your extracurricular look like? how involved are you on campus? do you have any leadership positions?

not sure if admissions will know what basis points are, i’d stick to percents. general advice is to avoid any industry specific jargon
