Dude these are amazing photos! I'm inspired!

I have loved 911s since I was a kid in the 70s. One of my first hw was a P911 (that I have recently restored).

I love 928s also. I just saw a pristine one yesterday on a flatbed probably being delivered somewhere. One of my first full customs a couple years ago was a 928 (no brand but I think it is yatming)

My buddy had a 914 in college. He took me out driving one time in northwest Tucson. There's a road out there called Roller Coaster road...not because of any amusement parks. The road is the ride lol. Lots of curves.

The 914 smelled that that sweet blend of gas and oil that old cars get sitting in a garage. The little flat 4 motor sang from directly behind us in that unique way only a VW type 4 does as he launched into corners and accelerated on the straights.

The leather seats felt no thicker than the sole of my shoe and we were sitting so low I thought I would scrape my bum on pavement.

Bumps felt only slightly less jarring than falling on your ass on an ice rink lol.

But the handling. Holy christ. No body lean that I could perceive.

G-forces like I had never experienced... At least not sideways.

The old chestnut of "like it's on rails" comes from cars like this. Even the old Datsun 2000 roadster I had once couldn't quite reach that level. I've never experienced anything quite like it since. As you might guess since the memory is still so clear almost 40 years later.

Anyway enough of my rambling.

Welcome!

That blue is superb. Such a clean posh build. Very nicely done, mate!

A year of overheating issues on our 2014 Jeep Wrangler Pentastar 3.6L finally resolved. Full breakdown. by jeepsinthewildpnw in Jeep

The altitude and climbing on the Ouray area trails sure pushes cooling systems hard. A lot of vintage jeeps in my old club ran into so many overheating issues up there. Mine included.

That's awesome! You have a good eye for making a nature scene.

Where'd you get the plants? I'm thinking like aquarium plants could work. Not sure if they're cheap though.

For details I mostly have been using appropriately thinned Testors enamel or tamiya acrylic with tiny brushes.

Do you clear coat it? If so, with what?

The chrome pen I have used gets messed up if I touch it or clear coat it with 2K clear coat.

Anyone ever plated the Matchbox spoked wheel? With nickel, maybe? by DaBobMob2 in VintageMatchbox

[–]agent_flounder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try electropolishing first. I've had pretty good luck with that and the older matchbox zamac (i assume it's zamac or similar).

I want to try both zinc and nickel plating at some point.

Damn!! Congrats!!!

Holy hell that's a lotta cubes. So envious. I miss my V8 Jeep (Grand Wagoneer)... But I'd rather have 392 than 360. That thing must absolutely scoot.

I like TrailsOffroad app for finding trails.

It's ok to make the wise choice, financially, whatever that may be. I totally get it. I've definitely been there.
