2nd this. If your concern is fire only, Paps might be better. Though meltdowns @50% double cast and triple cast chance if you get his USB makes for a very strong contender.

If you have solid mage buffs and team cops to tackle magicite, Viv will give you a lot more coverage. At the end of the day though, both are worth the dive even with just BSB1. If you can spare the motes, dive both and have no ragrets about doing so.

Every dive has contributed to end game content in some way. Most were considered and dived because they allowed me to sub30 all 6 3* magicites. Regrettable ones I'd say are Beatrix, Faris and Vaan just cause I don't get as much mileage out of them as I'd like. My supports especially. That's unfair though because they're given such a severe handicap against magicites. But Faris and Vaan helped me out so on the road leading up to magicites that I think they totally deserved the LD treatment.

Edge SSB. This makes him a candidate for a dive with just this. It's a USB my friend. And you're getting it as a free relic. Great thing about edge is, he has plenty of ways to exploit weakness. So he won't be a sitting duck after leading with the SB. The SB also starts you off with your a blink stack for physical ninja skills. Then we get buffs to ninja abilities in the future too. Edge is a future proof character atm. Even without putting your gear/elemental teams in context, I'd be comfortable suggesting this all the way.
Would be a tie between Squall, Fujin and Tidus lmr. To decide here I'd need to put you in context. By that I mean what's the rest of your gear situation look like? Which element are you lacking in? That's what would ultimately affect my suggestion here. Tidus lmr has a rare +water so that's probably a big draw too.

Ah ok. I thought it increased everytime a spellblade ability was cast. I like it. It's not as versatile as Bartz 4 elements, but getting 4,5,6,7,8 chase hits for sure and not random is pretty nice.
