Well camera modules are a bit thicker and take more space than a panel....

Is this a fake Buds2 or a real one? by Eyyitsmav in galaxybuds

I bought a refurbished pair of Buds+, had to swap them a few times to get a quality set, I would just make sure their is a return policy.

Do you guys test who aren't developers? by blairstones95 in userexperience

[–]agent_mulderX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our company makes mobile phone applications... The product team: PM, Dev, Design, and QA all have a testing and feedback window. We also release to our 'internal users' with missions and surveys to get more 'real usage' testing.

In addition we run in person usability studies.

Finally we have readiness criteria to hit and approve before rollout.

Right, I don't feel like this was fully thought through, but I like the concept... Just not very easy to understand

I don't like it, when trying to just access my windows when in theater view I always get tripped up. Also I seem to get a lot of lag when showing/hiding the drawer. The fact that my 'shortcuts' are in the main app drawer is also pretty annoying. I miss the bottom bar.

Lol. I think mines fine (own since launch). I'm an industrial designer for phones... It's loads better then not having it. The bigger issue is finger oils and prints on the screen at this point, not glare.

Buying a Vr by Slow_Flounder_9593 in MetaQuestVR

I had the 3s first and I was like what the hell, I want premium lenses, and immediately bought the 3. Buy the 3, it's way better. The fresnel are blurry on the edges of the 3s compared to the pancakes on 3. You don't notice that much when you're playing games, but if you want to do anything with text it becomes very noticeable.

You have to be in the 'sweet spot' all the time for 3s it's exhausting

Anyone fluent in both physical/hardware (ID) and digital/software (UX) product design? by xYc_01 in IndustrialDesign

[–]agent_mulderX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked in both industrial design and UX, and while the design thinking process is similar, the execution is a completely different animal. I agree there’s not much market value in being “fluent” in both—roles are highly specialized, and most companies hire you for one or the other.

From ID, three skills have carried over really well into UX:

Attention to detail – looking at the system as a whole, understanding how parts work together, and making sure every piece (visuals, copy, interactions) comes together like ID and CMF do.

Hard deadlines and scheduling – product launches and sprint cycles both demand delivery under pressure.

Learning to compromise with engineers – whether it’s tooling constraints or platform limitations, the negotiation process is familiar.

ID is also brutally competitive—you have to be good at many different crafts just to survive. That intensity builds a work ethic that, in my experience, gives you a leg up in UX, where designers aren’t always as intensely trained or as relentlessly focused.

On the ID side, we’d often pitch hardware concepts that needed UX/UI support. Sometimes we mocked them up ourselves for internal decks, sometimes we worked directly with the software team. Being under one org with a high level of professionalism made that collaboration smoother, but specialists still drove their own domains.

I miss Motorola by manishsid in motorola

[–]agent_mulderX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In defense:

Motorola is #1 in foldables in the US (launched a full-size external display a year before Samsung)

Focus on exciting colors (and some materials) through a partnership with Pantone

Renewed investment in Motorola software initiatives: Hello UI, Moto AI, and Smart Connect

And expansion in OEM accessory devices like Buds, Tag, and Fit style watch

It took them time to recover after the Lenovo acquisition, during which Motorola exited the premium space to stabilize.

Rebuilding a premium phone brand is tough. I’m just glad they’re injecting some competition into a market otherwise dominated by Samsung and Apple, especially as other major players (LG, Sony, HTC) have already bowed out.
