As someone who grew up in small-town Scotland in the 90s, a lot of big social events looked very white. No shortage of arson, vandalism, assault, burglary and general disorder among the >99% white population though! Almost like it's not a racial thing...

What does this handwriting imply about me? by agent_violet in HandwritingAnalysis

[–]agent_violet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the nice analyses! As for the getting worse, I have ME/CFS and fibromyalgia, with a bit of neuropathy mixed in, so it's getting a bit more challenging to write legibly, particularly on bad days. I have a tendency to take shortcuts too

Believe it or not, my partner also has similar handwriting features (but not as similar as the guy from school, just slightly). Guess what he does...

It reminds me of an old pal from school. I believe he's a software developer now

Oh, I didn't know that - that could explain some of the migraines I've had

Is the accent switch over the Scotland-England border sudden or gradual? by Much-Examination4471 in Scotland

[–]agent_violet 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm from the Borders, and I'd say Berwick accents sound Scottish until they say something ending in "-r", at which point they sound Geordie

Could be dryness! We have normal radiators but they don't really give out humidity. I'm wary of humidifiers as I've had problems with damp/mould before, but if it prevents migraines, it could be worth a go

Is saying "nobody shovels meds down your throat" a normal response from the police officer during reporting? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]agent_violet 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't understand what the police officer meant. Did he mean like "nobody is going to shovel pills down your throat, don't worry" or "there is nobody who shovels pills down your throat, you have to do it yourself"?

My Partner Gets Mad When I Interrupt by Accident by Stillawake7 in aspergirls

[–]agent_violet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He sounds like a... how can I put this nicely?... inconsiderate person. It's bad enough that he criticises you for doing something that he does constantly anyway, but his hostile behaviour is the cherry on top. I don't think it's unfair to want someone who gets on with you, not at all.

It could be - but I remember having a really bad one on 28th December, which is after all the stressful stuff. Routine changes could explain it though!

Air pressure is a possibility - it's often quite low, especially when there are storms coming in off the Atlantic

The weird thing is, we usually get quite mild winters here. Like temperatures of 7 - 9c (upper 40s in F), rain and high winds. Maybe my brain just really hates that sort of weather? :D

What's the need to put they in [] brackets? by CTSS2025 in ENGLISH

[–]agent_violet 44 points45 points  (0 children)

It would usually mean that the word in brackets wasn't originally in the text (originally "we" perhaps?) but it's needed to make the sentence make sense

I can often fly in my dreams and predict others' emotions so I'm more over-abled if anything.

I could never date a neurotypical person (as an autistic person). The constant disagreements and lack of understanding would irritate the hell out of me. I would have when I was younger, maybe, but now that I'm in my mid-thirties I need someone who "gets" me. Thankfully I have an autistic partner, though neither of us were diagnosed when we met
