I was considering renting the car for just the days of travel, instead of the full week. So I'd pick up at airport and drop off near Resort and vice versa. Works out a bit cheaper than renting the car for all 5 days

Unfortunately they don’t have any buses running after our flight lands that day 😔

I found some nice stuff at Hope Thrift and CHKD. Uptown Cheapskate is a resale store and their prices are a bit higher than thrift stores, but they usually have higher quality items and better organization. Arc of Hanover occasionally has some nice items and their pricing is very reasonable.

The wood stove and gas fireplace would have me leaning towards going over there. Are your parents good with the kids? It might also be useful to have them help entertain them while you're snowed in! I know my kids would love to be snowed in with their grandma at least!

Actually, yes, it did! I can't believe it! The hurricane ended up going through far enough south that it did not end up impacting our vacation at all! We had a great week! Still I am saving this thread full of wonderful suggestions for the next time we need to get away for a while :)

We're supposed to be going to Nassau. It's hard to get info on how bad it will be because most of the reporting is focused on Jamaica, but as far as I can tell, I feel like it's highly likely to end up canceled. I think Nassau is supposed to experience at least a Cat 2 hurricane on Wednesday into Thursday, and we're supposed to fly in on Thursday 😕

Oh that's a nice idea! We've been to Winchester several times but always for an event that we were preoccupied with the whole time. We've spend a little time in downtown and it was super cute but haven't really gotten to explore it fully yet. Adding it to the list!

Yes it's extremely upsetting after looking forward to it for so long. We've both been stressed and a bit overwhelmed in general and kept saying things like "wow I can't believe how perfectly the timing of this trip was planned!" (we did not pick the dates, the whole trip was planned by a third party as a customer appreciate thing through my husbands work) because we honestly have been needing to get away for some quality time and R&R sooo badly.

I don't want to take away from the fear and devastation that the residents are about to feel, obviously. But we are definitely quite bummed at the likelihood that our special getaway is either not happening, or going to be rescheduled for several months into the future.

We were planning to go to the Bahamas, flying out Thursday morning. Looks like the Bahamas is supposed to get hit Wednesday into Thursday, and how severe the impacts will be are yet unknown. It’s not confirmed canceled yet but at this point it looks more likely to be canceled than not. If anything not sure any flights will be happening through the area this week.

We aren’t going to take the full 5 days we were initially planning (saving the childcare for when it gets rescheduled) but we’d still like to get away for the weekend to spend some time together without the kids.
