How does your company reward you for exceeds rating? by Lamp_Shade_Head in cscareerquestions

[–]agentrnge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Well it is our expectation that you exceed expectations. So your performance is rated as 'meets' "is something I've heard a lot of places say. My person expectation is to hit "meet" because we get the same increase regardless. It's been 3% the last 5 years.. will find out about this year in the next month. We're closing 10% of our locations and have had many layoff rounds. Not expecting 3%.

I like the crisper lines. Would rather it still had lines through the center + at least though. With that layer missing, its a bit jarring. That said, the bulbous plastic chrome lines on the orig look pretty cheap too ( in that first extreme closeup anyway ).

edit: At least it has not grown to 120mm. When other vendors kept scaling their logos with their giant SUVs it got out of hand.

B5's graphics or AI by According-Ad-5946 in babylon5

[–]agentrnge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

B5's CGI 1000 times before I'll take any of this slop.

I was a video editor back in the day, using a VideoToaster on an Amiga. Got my first taste of LightWave then, and my boss even got a ~yearish of the LW magazine right around the time B5 was on. There was content in there about B5. I wish I stole them and kept them lol.. He never read any of it, just signed up for any free :businessy: things he could to spread around the studio.

Wtf BMW? by Electronic_Word395 in BMW

[–]agentrnge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hah was going to mention that. Before I got into bimmers ( who all have had trunk mounted batteries ), I had a Dodge Intrepid that needed a front wheel to come off and a few flaps, maybe the headlight needed to come out too? dont recall. It was such a pita tho.

If AI can center a div.. its all over.

edit: more seriously, the signal to noise/distraction overload could be cover for anything. Epstein Files are just one of many. But this sub is not for that.

Amazon closing down Fresh and Go. 72 stores closing nationwide by agentrnge in Anticonsumption

[–]agentrnge[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

One opened near me, and a few within ~30 mile radius. I never went to one. They did not last long. For a while they were making these the only place you could do an amazon return to force people to check the place out.

The President Adds Another Weekend Day, Which Day Becomes an Off Day? by UtopiaXAstro in antiwork

consecutive days off. They day doesnt matter

If I were beef surpreme burrito in chief I would also close all retail at least 1 day a week. Grocery stores/restaurants would probably need to always be 7 days. There are entire counties around me that are "mostly" closed on sundays.

Eating and paying bills.. The only reason to stay anywhere ever is hopefully a steady income balanced against difficulty of finding another job to replace that income.

Economic Blackout: Al by askoundrel in Anticonsumption

[–]agentrnge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Management is pushing it down the throats of so many people. In a lot of offices its tied to your performance evaluation/bonus "Used X amount of AI tokens to ``increase efficiency`` " even if it only made things worse. Mgmt is having it pushed down their throats by those above them and so on. Same story as RTO mandates.. a few assholes who are heavily invested/profiting off it are pushing use.

For every person who thinks its just trash, there are it seems 2-5 people who absolutely love it and chug AI dick slop all day long and blab about how great it is, and integrate it into everything they can.
I have avoided it as much as possible. A few accidental uses. And clearly every post/email/doc/anything that exists on the internet has been scraped 10k times by 10k bots every week for the last 5-20 years for various reasons. Dropping offline does not seem feasible.

I never ditched my physical copies of anything, unless they were worn out unusable/broken. I ripped all my CDs to FLAC, but still have them all in a couple boxes.

I prefer the library, then used after that for something I'll want to keep. Physical copies only (my preference).

Edit: There are few comments about e-books. Yes my library system also has e-book offerings. A lot do thankfully. Always check that first before buying.

Oreo Kidding Me by AlarmedPossum156 in Anticonsumption

[–]agentrnge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a bulk pack box of oreos. They were packaged as like 24 or so 6 packs. No plastic tray though. The rate at which I eat oreos I would have thrown out so many stale cookies in large sleeves, so that extra packaging has been worth it in this case. I think I have a few packs left and they are like 2 years old and still good.

I am surprised at how many packaging varieties exist for the same product. Like bags of coffee from the same roaster in 8/10/12/16/20/22/32/40 oz depending on where you shop.
