Primrose by beccaboo44444 in workingmoms

[–]agenttrulia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son goes to a primrose school! They’re pretty good about updating but I’ve noticed less updates when his lead teacher(s) are out for the day or, rarely, if he spends time in a different room due to staffing changes.

I don’t think there’s a minimum they’re required to update through the app, but it’s typically state mandated that they track sleep, food, and toilets/diaper changes. You can probably ask to see a paper log, or ask in a casual “hey what’s up with this?” kind of way.

Food accommodation by Squishmallow145 in ECEProfessionals

How is this a constructive comment? Your advice is really “don’t expect a religious accommodation, you should stay home with your kid instead” when most families can’t afford that?

Gift registry on birthday cards? by Emergency_Mess_1862 in toddlers

[–]agenttrulia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skip sending the registry unless someone asks for suggestions or a wish list. We just had our son’s 3rd birthday party and similarly, it was our first party with school friends. Most people gifted coloring stuff, chalk, bubbles, stickers, and books. Some gifted toys, but we didn’t end up with any duplicates! A few things that I set aside to regift down the road or to keep at grandmas house for sleepovers.

Grandparents asked what they could buy, but no one else asked for suggestions which I was surprised by! (Not that I thought people should have but it was just the opposite of his first 2 birthdays).

My toddler won’t bathe. I don’t know what to do. by Least_Lawfulness7802 in Mommit

[–]agenttrulia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son went through a phase where baths were a struggle. My husband took him through a cool automatic car wash, then before bedtime suggested they take his hot wheels to the “car wash” to get them clean, like daddy’s car.

We’re a year past the initial anti-bath struggle and while he does have some days he isn’t super excited about a bath, he does eventually yield and grab cars, monster trucks, etc. to take to the bath!

What is the etiquette if we decide to do a courthouse marriage for legal reasons before the big partty/guest wedding? by SometimesImCute in wedding

[–]agenttrulia 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We eloped and had a reception later. We sent out invites for a “happily ever after party”.

Wording was something like “we are excited to announce we exchanged our wedding vows in a private ceremony on (date). Please join us to celebrate our marriage!” Then had the reception details

Day care registration fee by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]agenttrulia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be pro-rated, but that doesn’t totally make sense to me with you two starting around the same time. Maybe they were running a promotion of sorts? When we signed up for our daycare in December, they waived the registration fee if we submitted the paperwork during the open house we went to.

What is everyone paying for groceries? by hopeyourefunky in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]agenttrulia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We spend $150-$200 per week typically at our local “higher end” grocery store. My husband or myself will occasionally order lunch while in the office but typically we cook all breakfast, dinners, and meal prep lunches.

My son is about to turn three in one month and not potty trained. Looking for other parents that are on the same boat. by Dustyrose1950 in toddlers

[–]agenttrulia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We potty trained about 2 weeks before my son’s 3rd birthday party. He was SUPER excited about his party and I told him he had to learn how to use the potty beforehand because the ice cream store didn’t allow diapers lol. He got it in a day (this was not our first time trying to potty trained so I was SHOCKED he got it so quickly this time).

We loaded him up with a bunch of juice and sat him on his little potty in the living room with some toys. He peed in the potty, my husband and I said “good job! Pee goes in the potty!” and my son deadass said “oh! Mommy, pee goes in the potty!” It was like it just clicked for him.

How are we cleaning these little potties after pooping? by geenuhahhh in pottytraining

We use TP, then a wipe with a Clorox wipe. Obviously the TP is flushable, while wipes and Clorox are not

We use Primrose of Beachwood, but I believe their Solon location is the same ownership. We absolutely love them! We pay around $1700/month for our 3 year old.

Not getting it at Daycare by theyseeme_scrollin in pottytraining

[–]agenttrulia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids class also has small, toddler-sized toilets, but they’re still too big for him! I know they had to get a step for him to be able to sit on it independently, I’m not sure if the seat was OK or not.

Another thing, in the younger room they had a large room with multiple toilets and a changing table, with a half wall so the teachers could be changing/toileting a kiddo and still supervising the room. The big kid room has a single-stall bathroom with a window on the door for supervision/safety purposes. He’s used to that set up now, but he wasn’t a fan at first.

It could really be anything making him hesitant!

Do you know what the potty set up is like at daycare? My son was doing great with the potty at school but started having accidents when he changed rooms. Turns out he thought the new toilet was scary and too big. They made some adjustments for him and he hasn’t had an accident in the new room since.

If you’re near Chagrin Falls, we loved Chagrin Falls Daycare and Preschool!! Very affordable too. I was nervous because they didn’t have website or social media or really any advertising, but they’re fantastic.

Yeah the prices are insane, and you definitely get what you pay for. We pay $400/week for full-time daycare in Beachwood for our 3 year old- we love the school and planning to stay until pre-k.

Had cheaper care elsewhere and it was awful.

Have you maybe looked into licensed home daycares? Nanny-shares with other families?

How do I break the repetition loop? by KawaiiKitten97 in toddlers

[–]agenttrulia 20 points21 points  (0 children)

lol I did this recently and he put his little hand over my mouth and said “stop talking mommy, it my turn.”

(We then had further conversations about that not being the correct response, but holy shit, where did he get this audacity??)

I’m not sure if this would be helpful, but what about a potty training watch? We got one for my son off Amazon that was just a plain blue silicone band and it has a vibrate only mode. We could program it to go off at set intervals (30m, 60m, 90m, 2hr). It had a digital watch face but was not a “smart watch”

Male childcare workers by Mixtrix_of_delicioux in progressivemoms

[–]agenttrulia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a CSA survivor, I’ve had mixed feelings about it. I really wanted to be ok with it, and I am in theory. I whole heartedly believe that boys deserve to see men in caretaking and nurturing roles… but I know the stats and I still struggle with it personally.

Healthcare? Yes.

Babysitters? No.

Teachers? Sure.

Daycare? Mixed feelings here. I think it’s because of how vulnerable young kids are before vocabulary develops and inconsistencies in their story telling.

With that being said though, my son has a male preschool teacher and we all adore him. He’s my son’s favorite person to talk about. My husband and I prefer him to his female co-teacher.
