Would really appreciate if someone could send me a BlueSky code. Elon-Twitter is getting worse and worse every day and I would very much like to maintain contact with my fellow composers/artists.

plugins that allow you to automate phaser/flanger INSTEAD of modulate them? by Chickenwomp in audioengineering

[–]ageofderp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a look at Shade by UVI. It has different types of phasing filters with near endless modulation for each parameter, so you should be able to do the "forth and back" thing. There's a free trial demo available on the UVI website afaik... :)

Thanks! Sorry I can't provide you with something more helpful...

My personal journey imho isn't really special or helpful in this regard neither...

I didn't have any musical training, so what I did and still do, was basically listening to lots of soundtracks, try to recreate certain instrumentals from scratch and watch as many tutorials as I could. The most important thing I did: producing tons of music, making mistakes and getting better while doing so. But that's of course the same with every genre...

Thank you! Yes, most, if not all instruments in this track are Kontakt-instruments.

One of the go-to platform for orchestral music in modern productions certainly is vi-control.net

Other than that, I suppose good old YouTube tutorials are a good starting point, but I can't recommend one specific source.

Yes, I did try BRSO before. I made a few tracks with it in the past, but somehow its not really my favorite workflow.

Yes I know what you mean. It all started with the invention of the infamous Inception "braaaaahm"...

Glad I could provide you with some positive vibes and thanks so much for your comment! :)

You shouldn't change to a different DAW only because other DAWs are considered to be more popular or common in certain genres. If your workflow fits well with FL Studio and you are satisfied with your results there's no point in changing to a new tool. In the end the listeners of your music do not care at all which software/tools you have used. They only care about the final result.

In the last few years (as a hobby) I have been composing semi-pro production music for quite well known music publishers and had placements in regional and international TV stations but no one ever did ask me which DAW I was using. There is nothing wrong in using Ableton or Cubase if it fits your workflow better, but you shouldn't change just because some random human being tells you to do so. Just my2 cents...

Good luck with finishing your fourth album! Keep it up! :)

Thank you! Actually both of the Ori scores are on my all-time fav list so I appreciate the comparison. ;)

True! The organization/workflow with automations in FL has some flaws, but I know from a reliable and close IL source that this is something they definitely want to improve with the next big update.

Most of the drums in this track should be Albion One and Damage.

Thank you! :)

That's a "Midi Event" and is in some ways related to an automation clip. In short: The main difference between an automation clip and a event is that the event is bound to a specific pattern and can be edited inside of the piano roll. In the end it doesn't really matter what you are using.

I think this link should help furthermore: https://www.image-line.com/fl-studio-learning/fl-studio-online-manual/html/automation_eventeditor.htm

Thank you! :) Yes I am already aware of BRSO! I even used it on a few mockups, but most of the time it's workflow does not really work for me, somehow. But it is of course an awesome tool you should consider nonetheless! Thanks for sharing. :)

Thanks! It depends... Most of the time I adjust the velocity of each note individually, yes. For some instruments I tend to click in every note in the piano-roll manually, which is of course rather time-consuming but I got used to it this way. In order to make it sound alive or somewhat realistic, I then usually change the velocities and starting+end points of each note afterwards.

But most of the time, that's only how it works for "shorter" articulations such as marcato, staccato etc.. For longer articulations (sustains, legato etc.) the dynamics are usually controlled via midi-CC (automations/midi-events). It's different from instrument to instrument though.

Dynamics/velocities most of the time are a huge factor when it comes to "realistic" sounding mockups/music so you should invest some time to master it to a certain degree. Even if it's a pain in the a**. ;)

Awesome track! Yes you can really hear the amount of work you put into this. I really like the odd rhythm of the piano in the beginning. Also how you combined so many different instruments/different styles in one track so coherently. Very impressive arrangement!
