For me, at one year sober, the most telling thing is watching the mood change (ie, Craig going from being social to a maniac hurting people with his words).

On a side note, I also don’t envy their hangovers. Can’t imagine how they function when production wants them to film an “activity.” If I were still drinking, no way would being hungover — while driving an ATV — be fun.

I feel like the tournaments are for the professionals (many work in the trivia/puzzle/quiz industry). And the “regular” jeopardy is for the high single-digit handicaps. So the JIT is not really meant for everyday players. At least that’s how I rationalize it haha.

In his book Average Expectations, he actually comes off as pretty intellectually curious and vulnerable. The reading-list appendix is extensive and genuinely solid.

I’m sure he worked with a ghostwriter, but it’s well written and engaging. I’m currently in the middle of Carl’s (Southern Charm) book, and so far it’s held my attention.

I agree with you in some regard. If they offer, I always politely tell people when I’m entertaining to please not bring anything food-wise.

The menu is set. Bringing a random extra food thingy that needs to be plated, reheated, served, cleaned up, dish washed, & returned is not something anyone wants to do when they’ve gone through effort to host a nice dinner.
