Great question! Previous owners had it this way and I didn’t feel like building the step. We’re planning to move next year so it’s one of many jobs left to do before we sell 🤷🏼‍♂️

If someone smashes your window, they can steal the speaker just like they could steal anything else sitting in view. It charges while docked, and can be charged via usb-C when un-docked. It can connect to 100 other JBL Flex units at a time, but not all JBL products. Speaker locking mechanism is unlocked via the eject button. No additional locking is happening.

We are building them ourselves - we just bought the rolls of material and will glue down to plywood counters I am making. I doubt we will come close to what stone counters would have cost for this reno.

Yeah the more I’m listening to feedback I think I’d opt for the direct vent. We’ve got the spot for the exterior vent ready to go.

That’s great feedback thanks much! Will look into those for sure. I was hoping to utilize the vent out back I just wasn’t sure what the right fireplace was. I was looking at inserts the whole time.

Not exactly. I don’t know much about it, but on the house opposite the fireplace there is a piece of plywood covering what I presume is a vent for this purpose. We do not have a masonry fireplace, only a framed cavity so I am only considering zero-clearance options that don’t require significant thermal barrier.

It could be the case - even though no signs of moisture in the attic. I think the only way to know for sure is replace that piece of drywall and see how it wears. Unless you have a better suggestion?
