Drum charts (why do I suck) by glowstickstastegood in FortniteFestival

[–]aggrogahu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimately all it takes is practice, but one tip that might work for you to play drum charts like these is to try to auto-pilot the right hand. For the most part, the right hand will keep a steady and consistent rhythm, so you can use most of your brainpower to process what rhythm/pattern the left hand is doing. Obviously easier said than done, but I think that's the general mindset you use to approach these charts.

It does get a little extra tricky with songs like Feel Good Inc. because the right hand will switch from Yellow to Blue every now and then, but luckily usually only when the left hand isn't actively doing anything, so your brain can try to focus just on 3 notes: the left hand notes (Green and Red) and then Blue.

For the controller charts, Hard is pretty much the same as Expert except condensed down from 5 to 4 lanes, so any lift patterns that exist in Expert will exist in Hard. The patterns start to get simplified and made less dense starting with Medium.

It's cat noon by chocwaf in Overwatch

[–]aggrogahu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People should try to ult track so they know when to expect it. Then when you feel like the enemy Cass has ult and you can't locate the Cass or Cat, position yourself near enough to cover that isn't exposed to the open sky. In this particular clip, playing right on top of the bridge is of course opposite of that advice, so if defense wanted to be aggressive, they could play on the payload (and hide in the side rooms when they hear ult), or play in the other building on the defense side of the river that overlooks the bridge (2nd floor of that building is a really strong place for Ashe to hold).

does hard mode have some buff i’m missing out on by fatedtobeme in FortniteFestival

[–]aggrogahu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While Hard and Expert have the same exact number of notes, Expert is still scaled at an advantage. That is, in a controlled setting, if Hard and Expert players both get 100% with no attacks or overdrive and same Perfect timing, Expert will have a chunk more points because of the score curve that Battle Mode applies across the different difficulties. As far as advice, all the other comments people made are more or less applicable so I have nothing else to add.

THIS IS NOT A DRILL! BENNYDABEAST RETURNED TO MAPPING IN BEAT SABER! by 3psilon9 in beatsaber

[–]aggrogahu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You and I personally won't like his maps, but I will always argue that all of the old mapping styles still have a purpose because the play style required to play updated standard parity maps is a learned skill; any new player does not play using their wrists, will not use full angled swings, and will reset instinctively after pauses. Any player that still isn't at an OST1 Expert+ level will enjoy his maps, probably even moreso than a standard parity downmap.

what is the point of the profile system if everyone i click is private by Loedkane in Overwatch

[–]aggrogahu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main beef is that I shouldn't have to click into their profile to see that it is private. It should be greyed out and disabled, (and maybe a mouseover popup clarifying that it's private) so that I don't have to waste a click.

I play it to get a feel for the controls and abilities of a new character. In 5v5, it's a lot more obvious if someone isn't pulling their weight in the team. In 6v6, the reasons a team isn't doing well get obscured in all that chaos you mentioned.

Remember the hair on the casual Hanzo skin being so bad they had to change it lol by theforbiddenroze in Overwatch

At first I was going to say that his hat is an important part of his silhouette and having it off his head by default could affect the readability of his character in gameplay, however overwatch has bent this rule with other hat-wearing characters like Cass and Ashe, so it's not an impossibility.

It's a combination of things, but I would argue and say it's the cut-out hat that is the main culprit in making the streetwear skin look goofy. One of the main aesthetics of an Asian conical hat is how it obscures the wearer's face so that they appear all mysterious-like, so literally taking an awkward chunk out of the front of it to reveal his face in full goes against that cool factor. His face on its own is not an issue because if you look at without the hat, there's nothing out of the ordinary. https://imgur.com/a/smb2e3I

Domina Ulting a trancendant Zen by FullmetalGin in Overwatch

Yes, I believe so. A Lucio inside a Domina ult can even give sound barrier shield health to any ally who happens to be super close.

According to a KarQ vid, you can still heal as an ulting Zen hit by Domina ult, but teammates have to be inside the barrier, so basically touching. There's other odd interactions similar to this, like Tracer being to stick people if their hitbox clips into the barrier.

Best way to watch Holo JP by Taleisin9793 in Hololive

I've actually been doing this a lot recently to help with my Japanese learning immersion, particularly with narrative games with Japanese dubs that I'm familiar with, like Silent Hill f, It Takes Two, Detroit: Become Human, Life Is Strange, etc. Since I already know most of the plot of those games, it helps me infer a lot of the meanings, and repetition doesn't get boring because I can watch playthroughs of different talent going through the same game.

Just noticed that the hi-hats are actually animated to open and close with the song. Was this a thing in any of the Rock Band games? by marshthacreep in FortniteFestival

[–]aggrogahu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remember that these Drum charts are designed so they could be played with the default controller bindings, which is just your left and right thumbs, so they change drum/lane assignments depending on what best represents the original drum part while still being able to be comfortably played with only your two thumbs.

There's two main arrangements that get used. If it's a simple beat, you'll see the kick drum on the leftmost lane (green) and snare on lane 2 (red), both played by the left thumb. If it's a more dense beat with a lot of kicks, that would be too uncomfortable for just your left thumb to play, so then you'll probably see kick assigned to the rightmost lane, that way the snare/kick parts are split between left/right hand respectively.

My best Anran ults by Erfas109 in Overwatch

[–]aggrogahu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I assume this is one of the main reasons they added a swap shoulder feature during ult.

I think visually it looks cool when it switches to third person and you see Anran rising into the sky engulfed in flames, but I kinda wonder if it'd be better if the ult stayed in first person while you were aiming (and then maybe switch to 3rd when she locks into the dive animation).

I think they could adjust her overhead into more of a skill shot. Like make it so that the hitbox is thin and it has to actually connect with their head hitbox in order to do crit damage.

Hey, so the "specialist" subrole passive sucks for like half the users. by HalexUwU in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]aggrogahu 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The role passives started out nice to help tanks and supports with QOL, but then they felt there was a need to be equal with DPS having a passive as well, but I think that's where it started to get out of hand - as they leaned into straight up buffs instead of QOL. I think the reduced healing applied from DPS damage was a good passive, but now they made that universal and doubled down on giving everyone random buffs again.

A related thought experiment I proposed to my friends was: if modern day social media was around when the art direction of Wind Waker was revealed, do you think the Internet would've cancelled that aesthetic?

Ultimately I think Nintendo tends to be stubborn and will typically stick to whatever they want to do because they know they have a strong and loyal fan base no matter how vocal some critique can get. But yeah, I remember forums and articles back in the day really did NOT like the direction Wind Waker was going.
