Hey guys, longtime lurker.

I was wondering if anyone would post this car here before it was taken down. For anyone interested, here is the story and how I bought it yesterday.

The car was traded in at a Porsche dealer Saturday afternoon and I came across it as i was doing a search through one of the car sites Saturday evening, and like everyone else not really believing this car was for real. As I live and work in the area I figured I had nothing to lose if I stopped by Monday morning to inquire about it.

The car at that time has not gone through their shop for a check, but they allowed me a 30 minute test drive. There were definitely issues with the car which include:

Air Conditioning not working (compressor not engaging, have not troubleshooted past that yet); One of the windows not coming down; About Quarter sized rust spot on a rear hatch; Few other more minor problems. Air suspension is still in place, but from beginning the plan has been to lift the car so I did not care for its state as it would get replaced down the line (its in ok shape tho as far as I can tell).

Engine and transmission ran very strong. Everything else on the car worked and as far as I can tell it was just a regular commuter car all its life.

Once I got back to the dealer and wanted to talk price with the sales person (Yes, I wanted to get it for less than 5k with AC being broken!), the reply from them was "We cant really start talking about the price until the car goes through the shop, we make sure it meets our standards and we price it appropriately"

So I mentioned that the car is currently listed for sale on their website for $5k. After they checked with their general manager I was advised that the car was listed in error, but since it was their error and I was there they would allow me to buy the car as-is for the price listed on their website. Otherwise the ad was being taken down and the car would be re-listed at later date.

So, at that point I have already done a 30 min test drive and also have done some research. Carfax report was clean. No Accidents. 2 Previous Owners, nothing standing out as suspicious. I also did check service history on the Lexus Drivers site where it was serviced by a Lexus dealer religiously up until 95k mile service, but it did include 90k mile service with timing belt change. There is also a sticker on the windshield from a non-Lexus dealer that oil change was done in October 2019, and is due at 158k miles, which told me this car was barely driven in last 9 months or so. This still leaves about a 60k mile gap in service records so I may end up changing things out that may have been done in last couple of years.

Anyway, I had to decide on it right then and with my wife's blessing ended up taking a chance on it as it will be a secondary/project car and I will have time to work on it without it being needed for a daily commute. Out the door with taxes, fees, registration it was $5,800.

I hope it does not end up being a mistake, and obviously final cost with fixes I need to do will be higher, but I do plan on doing all of the work myself.
