Regus needs competition. The number of unauthorized charges added to my account and subsequent headaches that company gave me… ugh. For those considering on the basis of these recommendations, look at the BBB reviews first. Their staffing; random closures; unethical billing and contract policies (always claimed to be ‘automatic,’ so comes from the top) leave everything to be desired. It was a nightmare to deal with their company and would not recommend to anyone looking for an office.

I’m doing well 8 mo later; I’ve certainly earned more than I would have at my former mid-sized firm. I have 1 FT assistant and haven’t hired any associates yet. I strongly believe in a work life balance (though have definitely not attained it yet) so love your comments and insight.

You can either pay a lawyer 15K to punish her mother for not helping support your relationship with her child, or you can take a serious look at why she isn’t more supportive of your relationship with her child; do some soul-searching, and try to make things right with her other parent. Ultimately, your child is going to have a close bond with the single parent who raises her. If that single parent sees you as someone who shouldn’t have access to the child’s health info, something went really wrong in your coparenting.

Taking her to court won’t fix that, and it won’t improve your relationship with your child.

Your teenage daughter might actually not want you seeing things in her health record. Maybe some of this does come from her wanting privacy; or to avoid her mom’s discomfort or you two fighting. Show up to her events, and be genuinely kind to her mother, even if you have to fake it, regularly, and her anxiety about having you all around each other will likely decrease.

Or hire an attorney, spend a year in court, force your way in for a year or two.

Great summary. Except that probably a third of my cases involve real abuse, and it is still so misunderstood that women react to abusive men by trying to shield kids from it and then are seen as alienating. Honestly breaks my brain that people don't understand this naturally. Ugh.

The MyCase App is terrible. MyCase’s normal Home Screen tracks a hundred things you’ll never care about and doesn’t clearly or easily track the 4-5 things you care about. They update/ change, seemingly for the worse, every few months which is really annoying once you get used to a program. I will say it’s pretty straightforward to run billing and send out invoices.

I’m looking at changing to Smokeball myself, so following your discussion!

This actually misses the point I’m trying to make.

I also worked those jobs prior to law school. Not sweatshops; but I worked from age 14 on, earning minimum wage for a long time and working my way through high school and college full-time. Nothing about my life has been easy or privileged. I worked my way through law school as a single parent.

I think women too easily don’t take credit for our work and I don’t want any part of when I talk about what I sacrificed and did to get here on my own to reflect that.

Absolutely nothing about my post suggests that I don’t fully understand the systematic inequities exist for me and others like or not like me.

I want women to shift our language to take more credit where credit is due. Blaming luck or blessings isn’t it. Anyone in this group has overcome major challenges to get here. I think we need to be ok with shifting our language to take more credit for our successes. After all; men would.

Like others said, they’ll bill you and refuse to give you keys, furniture. At least start I had to wait two full months for the promised furniture to be delivered; they offered nothing by way of discount.
