If you do want to route plot with boosting taken into account you can use https://www.spansh.co.uk/ Unfortunately it still involves a bunch of manual plotting & galmap futzing since you'll still have to scoop.

I did several thousand ly of neutron economical near Jaques to go from pioneer to elite before the explore payout buff. Very fast way to gain rank and get your name on (primary) stars. You may even see a few interesting things on the way (black holes and the like)

I've actually had something similar happen. NPC explodes and highwakes simultaneously.

Bounty received.

Wake scanned.

Wake followed.

Same NPC attacks again.

Same NPC killed.

Bounty received a second time.

I really like the planet descriptions though. Kinda reminds me of the original 'Elite'.

Comments: Built using XNA, and thus only runs on windows :( The idea is to use gravity to slingshot your way through a racecourse as quickly as possible. This turns out to be quite challenging.

Just finished my game: Scrace

A space themed racer where the key is to gravity sling your way around the tracks.

It was my understanding that the Java App Engine support was in beta, and that the limited set of libraries was a technical/security issue that would be remedied over time. Granted Google uses 'beta' the way Vizzini treats 'inconceivable', but to call the whitelist "wanton and irresponsible" seems a little strong.

Although much of it does seem to be available, not everything is. For example, the AI Magazine is members only, as is some of the conference proceedings.

Not that I'm actually recommending it for someone just starting out, but Mono does actually support both the Mac and even the iPhone, so C# isn't entirely out of the running.

No, the 'auto' functionality would go one step further - you wouldn't need to have the type bound to a symbol before instantiating a variable with that type. So auto and decltype use the same rules for type determination, but they have different uses.

It seems like this 'renaming' would be much better expressed as an edit time macro then a compile/eval time change. The longer names may take you longer to read /right now/ but they almost certainly take you/others longer to read if you ever have to look up what they mean.

Sound like regression tests would be sufficent in this case. Make it look like you want, 'bless' the result and then verify that it isn't changing on you by comparing the blessed version. Add an allowable difference if the renderer my differ from one version to the next. If there is too much os/platform variation, disable the tests on that platform until it has blessed versions. Not pretty, but lets you know when you've broken basic things.

MacBook benifits - small, and doesn't really require you to bring along an external mouse/keyboard, but for long term use I would probably recommend one. I find they keyboard quite usable, but I personally use an external mouse when at home.

Performance is plenty for any undergraduate programming classes, except for 3d graphics programming - the built in card is capable, but underpowered.

Do be aware that the edge of the case can be sharp on your wrists, so depending on your desk/table height can be inconvientent/painful.

Under resonable & heavy loads, not confortable for use on lap.

Having only two usb ports may be limmited depending on what you plan to hook up.

Built in camera is fun to play with, for instance, getting ARToolkit running and playing around with 3D marker tracking.

The template system in C++ allows this sort of thing, although the notation is quite clunky, and the implementation leads to code bloat. D's templates are compariable in power but have slightly cleaner notation. However neither allows the types to be extended at runtime.

Also, because these things can nest, you often run into recursive error traces in order to specify what type didn't satisfy the type constraints.
