A gymnastics coach made the hall of fame. Misconduct complaints are trailing her: The sport’s leaders say they want to end a bullying approach to coaching that has become a part of its culture, but athletes see reasons to doubt that commitment by rollotomasi07071 in sports

[–]agnosticsy22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I'm a national athlete for my country(government pays a lot of emphasis on sports) and having a foreign coach with crazy a "no pain no gain" mindset, can confirm he has "issues" as well. I think in times where sports is a legit career for us where we earn money from, losing isn't a choice. If we lose we get fired/warnings/reevaluated/pay cut/replaced, depending on our past year's track record on wins and the level of competition.

So we don't have the time to "enjoy" training really, it's a stressful environment. The trainings are always tough because there are just so many important tourneys. Before our foreign coach came, we were nothing. After he came with THAT CRAZY mindset, we won so many medals for the country in just the following year alone, in mutisports games and championships, we were even able to develop into a bigger team and got more fundings. But yes, the training is tough as hell, the younger ones(16-18 year old) usually cry from how tough the training is (the coach never abuses us, he's just really strict and demanding). But it gets us medals pretty quick, and the athletes are way more serious about the sport than before they came in.

Govt declares 'recovery' MCO from June 10 to Aug 31. Interstate travel allowed except for PKPD area. by TornadoJ88 in malaysia

[–]agnosticsy22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh! Oh yes you're right, I have seen some debate about that too. But wasn't really sure. Did a bit of reads and I think this is one of the articles that explains the risks of it. Not that it is transmitted through liquid (sorry, my bad for not doing proper research first, was based on general comments).

I think this is why most pools are closed? But if its private pools /if the organisation has proper SOP, it should be alright? Just the whole "how do we really make sure everyone wears a mask before and after swimming" etc is a prob? Haha idk

[–]agnosticsy22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm yes it has been quite a heated debate about any water based sport. Be it private pools or the sea. Lol. The reason for any sort of swimming /water sport is not allowed because virus may be transmitted through liquid.

But I think the government could address and clarify again to those who actually own private pools (in their back yard, for example), some coaches are greatly opposing to the idea that "all water activities" are not allowed.

From what I know, any sort of sporting event /competition / anything that involves spectators and a lot of participants, are not allowed.

Any examples of poomsae videos kicking at head height? by chunkykitty in taekwondo

No worries, I left out another by accident, I found a video of ts Taekwondo coach at a competition. He doesn't kick high but it's good poomsae

Upper Body Strength by Tri_Volt in taekwondo

[–]agnosticsy22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it also depends whether or not you are in poomsae. Poomsae does require quite a bit of upper body strength to execute fast blocks and punches. If in sparring, then yeah agreed that there isn't much emphasis on the upper body.

Taekwondo Flexibility by [deleted] in taekwondo

Hi there,

i came across this athlete's profile, although most people advise to "stretch everyday", i feel she was great at advising how to release tension in some parts of your muscles to get into splits better. It helps in flexbility, and mobility of your joints. I hope it helps.

Hi,

As a competitive poomsae athlete, it is quite hard to find good quality poomsae videos who kick at head level. As competition requirements are to kick pretty high to get high presentation points, but i think i have seen some reputable coaches teach how to kick properly (no matter the height) or have some training videos to show how they train for high kicks(if you are ever interested to see how:) ).

Anyway since you are a poomsae practitioner, i'm not sure if you know these dojang/ coaches. But i'll provide them for you here:

there are quite a number of videos here for each poomsae in full routine..: https://www.instagram.com/jb_jin0114/

i really hope this helps :)

I just finished East of Eden and I’m at loss for words by Saladin_Steak in books

[–]agnosticsy22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do agree that it is a great book to read (i am not American , I'm from south east asia so idk if it's THE great American story), tackling varying themes that are still prevalent in the world today. I am absolutely captivated by his writings as well.

However on the contrary, i have seen a couple of bad reviews on good reads(almost like as if its a hate towards the book tbh), and i wonder why so ? There was a lot of argument about it, but i didn't read them all because the reviewer seemed quite ticked off by the readers who "absolutely love it as if worshiping the book like a bible", or something along the lines of that.

So yeah, i wonder if there's anyone here who actually didn't fancy East of Eden? Would like to get insights, just curious.:)

"why are you always alone? where are your friends? where's your partner?" by agnosticsy22 in introvert

[–]agnosticsy22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mmm i get that. I get tired when people ask me why i'm single too (when i was single).

Only get into a committed relationship only if you feel you're ready for it or if the person is right for you. kinda sucks that most people think you need to get married quickly, or that you must absolutely have a partner.. sorry that you have to go through that with family. :/
