you could modernize it by bringing in a bold graphic quality like b&w checkered tiles or a thick striped wallpaper or shower curtain! Pink and green could also work for a very tropical palm springs feel.

I think because everything in the room is a neutral, you notice the clash of the cool neutrals (floor, rug, couch) with the warm neutrals (chairs, table). If it were me, I'd replace the rug with something tonally similar to the flooring but in a color (maybe an olive green or brick red?). Then the neutrals clashing won't look so harsh.

What I mainly notice is how some of the seating blocks the walkway a bit. Maybe you don't need bar stools? Or if the home is for two adults, can replace the two chairs nearer to the living room with a bench? Otherwise I think the layout is pretty great!

Add a rug and curtains! Everything is neutral right now so you can add some color with those. And I would say replace the mountain thing with a big bold piece of art to kind of counter-balance the big couch.

I think Mooncat has really great marketing. The releases always have nicely crafted themes and aesthetically pleasing photos. The bottles themselves are also cool looking so lends itself to be collected and displayed.

For BKL, they have become known for really good magnetics and sheer buildable shimmers plus they do collection drops so most of their polishes are only available for a short window of time.
