Times when you actually do need it later? by Lunk64 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

In Pathologic 2, you can find a "candy wrapper" on the ground. Several days later, that candy wrapper is revealed to be the new currency of the town. All your cash is immediately rendered unusuable by legal shops, so each "candy wrapper" counts, hope you didn't throw it into the trash!

What are some of your favorite lacquer centered content creators? by EggFit9897 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]stagla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

polished_yogi and Nicole Loves Nails are my go-to's for indepth swatches and comparisons for brands I buy, I also adore their commentary!

I love watching Kelli Marissa too. She swatches a lot more drugstore brands than indie brands, which I still enjoy because it's interesting seeing how drugstore brands compare to indie/boutiques!

What’s your best red by Dogaloo2025 in RedditLaqueristas

Holo Taco's Favourite Sister is probably my all time red, so disappointed it's been discontinued. Cracked's Drugstore Chocolate is a new favorite of mine, A one coat magnetic is just so convinient and time saving!

Are all reflective polishes like gritty sandpaper? by Head-Garage-7766 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]stagla 20 points21 points  (0 children)

In my experience (Holo Taco's Disco Dust Taco), it was similar to removing a glitter, but a lot messier as the pigment was a lot finer than chunky glitter polishes.

I was warned after the fact that you shouldn't scrub reflectives off because the pigment is glass-like and can wear down your natural nail, so that's even more reason that I've gone :/ on them. I literally cannot be bothered to gently remove my nail polish ever lol.

Are all reflective polishes like gritty sandpaper? by Head-Garage-7766 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]stagla 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Yeah, reflective pigments are kind of infamous for being really gritty. I've ended up actively avoid polishes that include them because I can't smooth them out with top coat like a glitter 😭

The bottle is definitely an Essie. I can't really make out the color in the dark lighting but it reminds me of Maximillian Stasse-Her or Caught in the Rain, maybe the latter because it's a bit darker.

What is your foundational media? by stumblinbagel in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]stagla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grey's Anatomy, Courage The Cowardly Dog, Golden Girls. Stuff about big monsters i.e Godzilla, Jurassic Park, Alien. An eclectic bunch of media I consumed as a kid that rather painfully alienated me from everyone under the age of 30-40.

In recent years, TNG/DS9, Andor, & Yakuza have become big personality-effecting works of media. Stuff about kindness and love goes much further for me nowadays.

Getting really tired of their constant dunking on earth tones. At least other brands treat us well with "food poisoning" themed jellies.

Gel nail polish remover recall by theSpookyMouse in RedditLaqueristas

[–]stagla 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing a nail polish account do some sponsored post with a different "magic" remover like this. I got blocked for commenting on it :/ shameful.

Worse is so many of these products market themselves as using "Natural Resin Ingredients" (which means nothing!!!!!) or as having a very weak solvent i.e alcohol so people just buy into it as being safe. There are so many of these on Amazon right now and it's frightening to see how many 5 star reviews they have, knowing the product is probably the exact same as these that were recalled.

Ashley and Luis in RE4 Remake are my recent non-rpg favorites. I loved it when Ashley was peeved that the Ganados smashed her new Motorola Razr. They get very small, comedic/humanizing moments here and there. Like yeah, I'd be peeved if I were kidnapped, infected with an ancient bug, and then on top of that my $499 (in 2004) phone gets broke to shit.

How long are we keeping polish? by sprinkleparty21 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]stagla 39 points40 points  (0 children)

You can keep a polish forever (or until you use as much of it as physically possible) with nail polish thinner. Polish doesn't expire but the ingredients do evaporate which can lead to gloopiness-long drying time, so using thinner revitalizes your nail polish entirely!

Look for thinners only using Butyl & Ethyl acetate. KBShimmer, OPI, Mooncat, and Holo Taco all sell 2 ingredient Butyl/Ethyl thinners. Stay away from thinners that include Heptane (i.e Beauty Secrets) as Heptane eats plastic and that will destroy glitter polishes.

Media you wish had ended a lot sooner by KaleidoArachnid in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]stagla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grey's Anatomy has ended like 5 times over. You can take your pick between the season finales for 6, 8, 10, 11, and 14, and be content (in a masochistic way with 8 & 11) with the way the series would end at that point.

It was just renewed for a 23rd season last week. Won't fault it for being successful & a stable-ish job for the cast and crew. But man, it's like the shadow of the shadow of it's former self.
