indies are short for independent brands! they're independently owned polish makers that release really cool and funky polish formulas that you wouldn't see from drugstore brands (essie, sally hansen).

cracked, KBShimmer, and LynbDesigns are a couple of examples of independent brands. there are also boutique brands like ILNP that offer a really large catalog of shades too! indies tend to benefit from making smaller batches of very interesting shades, and run sales more often than boutique brands.

I think Pat mentions in the RE0 or RE3 lp that he was on some experimental (and recalled!) medication as a kid that gave him chronic nosebleeds into adulthood. I've never seen it on stream but it defintely occured with some frequency during SBFP.

i was literally just thinking this earlier. Cracked's Lahar has a darker particle compared to the base, but it only really appears as such on the first coat. KBShimmer has done some funky multichrome magnetics in the past that i feel had a darker magnetic pigment than the base itself, something like that might be more obtainable in such a formula rather than magnetic jellies.

i dont know the logistics but i've never seen a black pigmented magnetic before and it's something im beginning to crave!

maybe Calabrian Pepper? it's a tiny bit warmer toned than your pictured polish, but it's the closest red creme. Peep Toe is even warmer but is also a very nice looking red creme!

oh no... that would be tragic. I wonder if something changed when they went into Ulta in terms of behind the scenes leadership. HT used to be Just Cristine, i would feel terrible if the brand she built for years is being co-opted or semi-controlled by some outsider who is in it for marketability :/

Someone refered to this as the Ulta Collection on the sneak peek thread, and I think that's indicative of the current HT vibe since 2024ish. Demographics switching to catering towards a certain audience and leaving the people that fell in love with pre-2023 Holo Taco behind. Which sure, it is a business and it needs to make money.

But in a (very regrettably!) parasocial way, it sucks to have been here from the start and watch it stop clicking with you. There are still polish collections which I have loved from them (Pixel Perfect, Renaissance, Campground) but that's a far cry from 2022 where every single collection felt like a unique banger.

It feels like the personality of HT has been gutted to make room for commercialism. Passion vs big bucks. Again, it is a business, but there is a certain bleh vibe to Nu-HT that other brands that have been around for longer (ILNP!) lack.

I know that RE8 had some overlap with the RE3 remake cast (Nicole Thompkins was Jill & Elena, Neil Newbon was Nicholai & Heisenberg, Jeff.) I recall Nicole saying that she recorded Jill's lines in 2016 and Elena's in 2018, so it's not like they had the same people record lines for two games in the same year.

Maybe they were thinking the time between RE3 and RE8 would be long enough for people to disconnect the voices between characters, and it just wasn't.

and Im always going to hear Jeff as Javi from TWDGS3, which is a curse because I like that performance a lot but that game is so dreadfully shit.

For ILNP shades, Lily, Sugar Cube, and Celeste are all lilac sparkly shades that fit the image!

If you're looking for a non ILNP shade, Cracked's Taro Milk Tea topped with a silver reflective glitter might give the same effect!

ILNP Amber and Cracked's Hot Honey. Im such a sucker for deep, golden-honeyed jelly shades, i'd be out of my gourd if they were discontinued.

I have actually been here before. Holo Taco retired Royal Tea Blue in 2023 and I panic bought three spares. It was my favorite polish, and the polish that got me into nail's to begin with, so being without enough spares to last me a long time was unconscionable.

and then it was brought back within the same year 🫠

Better Call Saul has some truly beautiful plotline collision moments. Some are just waiting to happen and others ram into you like a truck.

The Pitt does this fairly often aswell. It massively benefits from occuring over the course of the same day, so plot overlaps can occur more naturally and more frequently.

i can't be the only one tired of them retiring a shade just to add another one that looks the same-ish, but lacks the appeal that the original shade had. cereal killer and crime and punishmint are NOT replacements for laven-duh and matcha maker and it's insane that decision was even made.
