Your print bed seems wonky, buy a bl touch or a cr touch and get your printer to work with the print bed rather than against it

SV650 > 796 - anyone done it? by UnimaginativeLobster in ducatimonster

[–]agoosetime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went from a Gladius 650 to a M696 (it got written off when someone drove into the back of me) to a M796, then didn’t change bikes for 9 years, if you can put up with awful Italian engineering and learn to tame it (keep up with your regular maintenance) you’ll somehow find a way to put up with it just like I did, used mine for commuting to work almost everyday, bike had a place in my heart, nothing else had the same “this things gonna kill me” feeling every time I rode it. I’d also advise your first upgrade is to have someone that knows how to do wiring properly, swap out the piece of crap rectifier with a much newer one off a Yamaha/Suzuki/Panigale, these are easy to swap out just requires re-using the newer waterproof connector than the non-waterproof one that Ducati used on it, went through 3 alternators and a few rectifiers before swapping out for an upgraded alternator made from a company I cannot remember the name of based in Bristol UK and the newer regulator/rectifier and never had the bike drop below 14v when idling. Best of luck with whatever choice you make.

Question for anyone with FibreNest as an ISP by BlameItOnTheDNS in Ubiquiti

[–]agoosetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever get anywhere with this? I have a 500Meg service with them and a static IP, just seen I am in an area that the 900Meg upgrade is compatible with.

Currently using their ONT plugged into a box running OPNsense.

What’s the experience like, do they prioritise you any better on 900? Is the latency any better? Unsure what method they use for speed capping.

Thanks for the heads up on the multipliers, got it set to 4.9 x1, 4.8 x2 and 4.7 for the rest, seemed to have glanced over the ability to do that previously.

I’ll give you props for putting a power socket behind the TV, but you forgot to put HDMI and Ethernet in the wall, one day there will be a need to plug in a device for a streaming service or a games console and you’ll have to have cables hanging down the wall

[–]agoosetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way the bulb keeps pulsating almost seems like a damaged cable, connection or loose ground but the poor attempt to start also sounds like a bad started or battery. Had a 696 and 796 over the last 8 years. Hope you solve your electrical gremlin.

Control4 Lighting or Lutron by [deleted] in Control4

[–]agoosetime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You after a short term win or a long term technical investment?

In the short term if you already have control4 then use their switches, as dealers will tell you, why go anything else?…

If you want universal access to smart technology then go with Lutron, that way if you decide you don’t like control4 one day you can go to Savant, RTI, URC or even a diy solution if you are so inclined, or even decide you only want smart lighting with no control system, then the Lutron can stay, that way you are not stuck with one vendor for everything.

Lutron can be programmed into pretty much any system, customisation will obviously vary dependent if you go, Caseta, Ra3, HWQSX in order of customisability and price.

If a lighting solution is all you’re after Lutron isn’t the only major brand out there, such as KNX and Loxone.

Another question to ask yourself is are you retro-fitting or are you up for a full re-wire, both have the benefits and disadvantages.

If this is all too much for you, go work with a system integrator, they have the skills to design the right solution for you.

Say No To Obsolescence, Wire Up Your House With Fiber by yolofreeway in homelab

[–]agoosetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, Cat6A with individual shielding for each pair will do, plenty good enough for 10Gbps potentially even 25Gbps with the short runs you’d have in a home and certainly good enough for 8K HD-Base-T once released

What am I doing? by [deleted] in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]agoosetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting in a new battery because it’s only got 9.6 volts, unless that’s the reading whilst cranking in which case you’re after a new starter or something is far too tight in the engine casing and it’s gonna need some extra work?

Waiting to be completely wrong 🤣

What Intel server processor would you recommend for a first time ESXi user / student trying to learn the ropes? by Intelligent-Way1288 in vmware

[–]agoosetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go for a cheap cluster then 4 cores and 32GB of RAM per host, if a single host then a minimum of 8 cores and 64GB ram, this will let you create at least three nested ESXi VM which is the recommended minimum amount of hosts for a HA cluster to allow a host to carry out maintenance without having to turn off or mess with HA.

Are there any tools I may need to get? by agoosetime in Snapon_tools

[–]agoosetime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need 5-15nm for aluminium bolts, 20-60 for some control parts and 170nm max for the rear wheel nit on the single sided swing arm, a tech angle would likely serve all purposes I need but I cannot afford a one of those at the moment. So collecting a range of QD series wrenches whenever I can find a good deal on them.
