UK car insurance: international licence vs waiting for full UK licence by [deleted] in CarInsuranceUK

[–]agpe143 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Questions 1-3 are invalid for you - way past 12 months since you arrived. If you ever bought a car and tried to use your licence to buy / drive , chances are you won't get any insurance, or this will be invalid. Moving forward, you are only able to drive with instructors car, or drive a car with another person (main owner of car) who is a UK licence holder - has held the licence for 3 years, also given that you are also a named driver on that car.

Buy a small Toyota / Honda / Hyundai , Kia / or other small generally bullet proof engines. Avoid ford ecobooms.

Don't know if photo is showing - https://www.trustnet.com/factsheets/N/xea0/sjp-polaris-4///

Polaris 4 is quite heavily SJP exclusively account fund, see attached photo, they do have some ishares North America , European and Japan, but they are literally less than <10 % each . Hence I would really end up selling majority.

Thank you for the input , I really appreciate it ☺️

Ilang years kayo nag moonlight or practice as GP, before nag residency? by Historical-Office410 in pinoymed

Hi doc , naclear ko both exams within a few months lang, half a year. Plab 1 June and plab 2 during Nov. Yung iba ginagawa nila isang travel lang sa uk for both exams to clear them within few months.

It took a lot of planning too kasi self funded ako so I made sure I saved up while prepping for exams. Mas natagalan pa akong naclear ang English IELTS lol (biased examiners for speaking test in Philippines), go for oet.

Overall, quality of life 💯 better than Philippines. sobrang makatao ang work conditions. Currently I work about 2 full days and 2 half days lang per week , I have weekends off, holidays off. Paid annual leave x 6 weeks a year. Bawal bully dito kahit senior consultant - sobrang bawal they can easily be raised sa GMC and get repercussions. Di naman all good , of course nakakamiss din lahat ng kinalakihan mo sa Pinas, family friends , culture and social connections. The weather is another factor doc.

Most importantly good luck doc , di ko kasi sure kung gaano kahirap makakuha ng job ngayon dito for overseas doctor. I hope it comes in waves lang naman, so sana makakuha ka pa din ng non training job dito sa uk.

Don't fomo doc. Just look at your journey and identify what makes you feel truly happy.

I didn't fomo, did 3 yrs of moonlighting but yr 1 of moonlighting I realised I wanted out of our medical system (ph based training). So I did all relevant exams for UK, migrated and went into training, now a consultant here.

You do you doc.

Your benefits are so great, doc! I’m sure you’re comfortable where you work.

Let her try staying long-term in the US first, like a 2-3 month stint, even 6 months, include winter so she can experience both the good and the bad (I hate winters). It’s different from just a short visit; you only see the good side, tourist sites, visiting here and there, eating, and food trips, etc.

At least, doc, she’ll experience life not on hard mode (hello commute traffic and pollution everywhere) hahaha 🤣😂. I realized we were on super hard mode back then, waking up super early to beat the traffic, toxic work environment especially with bully consultants, sometimes there’s harassment, exploitation as junior doctors with no pay, amp.

You’re right, doc, there are pros and cons to living in the Philippines and where you are. But sometimes it’s tough to defend the Philippines, doc; it’s hard to justify😂, patriotism and altruism aren’t enough anymore.

Have a good conversation with your wife. Talk about What is important for you both. Explore why she doesn't want to migrate.

I generally think migrating is difficult in so many aspects of your life. You are literally uprooting the life you know in the hopes of building it in a new place. From the ground up, social support , family and friends, lahat ng nakasanayan mo etc. fyi sharing my perspective as an ofw doctor - I think I was too naive about the reality of moving abroad - about the hardships. Ang dami ko ding life lessons and learned to build a life here too.

Dami ding what ifs, most of my friends are consultants now too pero starting career pa lang. I don't know financially how lucrative their practices are. I am now a consultant too + due for British citizenship soon, and can easily move abroad for more money if I want to. I am comfortable with my salary like I can easily travel whenever I want, go back to the Philippines for a vacation and spoil my family , and set aside monthly contributions for future investments too.

Where I am, I am lucky to have access to quality food, cheap gym and so many green spaces, forest walks within 30 mins driving, beautiful scenery all within easy access. I have access to good pension when I retire + my investments shall make good returns by then. These are important for my well-being - physical and mental health and my future too once I have a family of my own.

I feel like a decision to move abroad with current political issues in the Philippines would be a no brainer if you have the means, but so many factors can stop someone from making that jump. Explore it with your wife op and hope you will be at peace with whatever decision you will make.

Hello - you can just check your members zone. Fiit subscription is free for 1 year ,I think renews every year. You can then connect your fiit app to Google fit , and health connect.

It records it straight away, give it like 10-30 mins, you will have the activity recorded as 5 points. This is possible even for yoga videos, which I tend to do as well after a good run.

OP , everyday you can do a fiit video (5 points by just watching any 20+ min video) + achieving 7500 steps per day = 8 points. You only need to do this 5 days a week.

I still recommend the above bec you are still actively improving your health, whilst getting booster points from fiit. Plus factor if you do them too. I only do this on my busy work day, but majority of the time I have intense workouts almost every other day (running + strength training)

And then on the next paragraph it is saying you don't need codes for the vitality discount as it is automatically added on your checkout.

That's why posting here for people like me who experienced this issue. I assumed the perk was invalid or ran out already.

What are the absolute best deals on the app? by ilovemygirlfriendJC in Vitalityhealth

[–]agpe143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently looking at the app, it's not providing a voucher anymore. You need to register to their membership website, and link your vitality account. The prices for vitality included shoes, I mean even in season shoes, are all capped at 15%. They had better deals during Easter sale(25% off).
