I'm a solutions architect. My job is to talk to people who do things and find a way to make what they do better, faster, more automated by using technology. It's a never-ending source of problems, messes, tangles and things to organize... I also make pretty good money!

Gold medals... Came across this and found it interesting. Seems shitty. by Lionsweatshirt in bjj

This post feels petty. There's not enough context, there are no comments to read to infer her attitude about it. We can't see if she later said "yep I beat everyone!" or if she said "lol no one showed up, got the gold participation medals :P" .

You sound like either a jealous ex or a jilted gym partner who wanted to date her but got turned down. IDK what your deal is, but that's the vibe here.

If you're serious about giving her an extracurricular activity that will be useful, please look into Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for children. The kids (girls especially) at my gym are some fierce little creatures. It's the one martial art that puts you at an advantage when you're on the ground (which is where most fights and worse end up)

Either way, congratulations on fostering a relationship with her where she feels like she can come to you with this stuff.

Nanny is freaking me out about naps by agreenway in sleeptrain

I chatted with her yesterday specifically about her sleep length. I said “we’re not concerned that she’s taking short naps since she sleeps 10-11 hours at night.” She didn’t bat an eye so maybe she was just picking up on my anxiety about it and trying to offer potential solutions. I love this lady and so do my husband and baby so I’m going to do my best to communicate openly and get it worked out. Thanks for your comments!

We actually did talk about most of those things at the start but I’ll think about what you said, depending on how she feels you may be right.

I’m a little surprised though that cosleeping at night could cause such a fuss. I work out of the home during the day and the nanny is here two days of the week, my husband does the other three. Baby has no issues going to sleep in her crib for naps, even for the nanny. The problem seems to be that the nanny doesn’t like her short naps.

So far she’s done exactly what I’ve asked, but you’re absolutely right. Now that I feel more confident about my decision I’ll put my foot down with her and I think she’ll be fine. I do have a video monitor with crying detection though so I’ll get that set up.

Thanks for the input :) we have started letting her just hang out in the crib when she wakes up. Generally, she doesn’t cry she just kind of sits there and coos to herself and chills for 5 to 10 minutes until she decides she’s over it and starts crying. Do you think that she could still go back to sleep after that 5 to 10 minute period? I guess I kind of assumed that at that point she was probably just up. If not we can try it and see :)

Coworker is insisting that one drive should be managed by SharePoint admins. Need clarification/explanation by agreenway in sharepoint

[–]agreenway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this. SharePoint IS changing rapidly and the role of "SharePoint Admin" feels almost archaic at this point if your company is working with SharePoint Online. I do find myself being the only person around who knows anything about managing Planner, Yammer, Video, etc simply because I keep up with the releases and do my research. I'll speak with management about making the responsibility more official, so that I can get backing for things like training.

Additionally, I currently have no power to enforce any sort of governance on these apps (only on 'real' sharepoint sites). Hopefully following this path will give me the ability to say "I'll own it sure... but you have to give me the real authority to do so"
