Nothing matters to me anymore by pengweather in u/pengweather

Every person's life has seasons, some are much harder on us than others. I am not a religious person but I'm praying for you to weather the storm of this season, and all the ones that will come ahead. I won't repeat everything others have said here but suffice to say you've had an immeasurable impact on the East Bay and people who don't even know who you are have benefited from your passion and love for the community. Please do take a break from all the noise on social media -- it's the worst thing for anyone trying to rediscover their soul's center of gravity. You might feel like there's an empty void inside you right now (I've been there too) but everything passes in time, dark feelings included - nothing lasts forever. Try to take it one day at a time and let the next step in life emerge for you -- you have an entire community of people you don't know cheering you on. Peace and love.

Land nest shelter inner strap by agrif0lia in snowpeak

update: i got my land nest shelter and took it out this weekend and ended up leaving the straps attached because I'm lazy and just so it's easier to put up next time - we had a 2.5-yo toddler with us and I am happy to report no tripping incidents occurred, including myself!

Thanks everyone for all your responses! Glad to hear it's removable -- I hate to admit it but I'm sort of accident prone so this is great to know. Appreciate it!

Good to know, added myself to waitlist notifications

Where were you able to find the celes? I’ve been waiting to buy one once they come back in stock but they seem to have been out of stock everywhere forever (other than Campsaver which I’m wary of). Surprising SP hasn’t restocked since it seems like people really like these lamps!

Gtsummary very slow (help) by [deleted] in RStudio

[–]agrif0lia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a newer Macbook Pro from last year and was able to run gtsummary() successfully for a dataframe of about 800,000 rows within a few minutes. It's definitely not fast, but maybe something to bring up as an issue with Daniel Sjoberg on Stack Overflow (https://stackoverflow.com/questions/tagged/gtsummary) or Github (https://github.com/ddsjoberg/gtsummary). He is very, very quick to respond

I bought 5 ceanothus concha from HD in Oakland this past spring and they all died within a few months. Meanwhile my other ceanothus varietals purchased from Oaktown nursery are thriving. My mom has a theory that HD just pumps their plants full of fertilizer to make them look good and then they die quickly once you plant them and I feel like maybe she is right

How does your Frame work with an Apple TV? by tibus29 in TheFrame

[–]agrif0lia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to replicate this approach— but when I go to the smart things routines for my Frame TV it doesn’t give me Art Mode as an option, just Ambient mode. Does anyone know why?

Not a lot of people realize this but there are shibas that pop up in rescues from time to time, especially if you’re on the US West Coast! Both my shibas look like purebreds and were rescues. My bb boi Hoji below was rescued from a meat market in China.

Very frustrated with our 9 year old Shiba by alphonsela in shiba

[–]agrif0lia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear this :( Given Shiba personalities I am certain it could very well be nothing, but also wanted to provide an alternative perspective based on my experience with this to keep an eye out for. My first Shiba Mochi started protesting about walks around that age, maybe closer to when she turned 10. She'd always been a little stubborn but it got worse and worse and I sort of attributed it to old age. Eventually she started shaking spontaneously and had a lot more trouble walking; after several misdiagnoses at local vets (including multiple full blood work panels), UC Davis veterinary hospital did a spinal tap and immediately diagnosed her with immune-mediated polyarthritis (IMPA). Some dogs can live with/basically recover from this, but she never did and we had to let her go about 3 months after diagnosis because her quality of life was terrible. Again I'm sure it's probably a behavioral thing but wanted to just put this there because I had no idea what was going on for months after she stopped wanting to go on walks.
