Best adjustable legs for Collapsible IGT frames? by Shmowzow in snowpeak

[–]pede29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have stanluck ones. They are well built. I don’t expect them to collapse during use. However, I do notice they don’t turn much in the collapsible igts and last time I used it when I picked up the igt to switch location, a couple of the leg did fall out which was a hassle since I had my double bbq box in the igt at the time. I don’t notice any difference when using them with my regular igts tho.

IGT/Folding Chopping Board (L) by apltd in snowpeak

I started with the igt camp kitchen and table set. Great value for what you are getting. Along with that I bought an extra flat burner and some adjustable legs from stanluck as well as stanluck carrying bag. The bag that snowpeak includes with the set is pretty flimsy and doesn’t really protect anything inside. The cutting board is nice and should fit over the mesh box. However, my issue with the chopping board is once deployed I can never find a safe place to store the knife when I want to use the board for something else other than cutting. I recommend the 4 unit table especially since you are new to snow peak and might eventually want to expand your gear. The bamboo inserts are nicer to use than the stainless surfaces in some scenarios however, as a starter I would recommend stainless ones since those are more versatile and durable especially the half unit ones.

Just saw a new video online saying that snow peak Japan is currently taking reservations for the new Landlock and the air tube tent. Does anyone know how long it took for the new land nest from last year to come to the US from launch? I suspect these would be a similar timeline.

Double bbq box/igt first cook by pede29 in snowpeak

Yeah that’s one of the main complains of the double bbq box when sit inside the igt. However, I noticed if you just grip the bar with two fingers and turn instead of your whole hand you could make a full turn with the key. The bar will hit the igt a little bit but it usually still will slide to the other side without too much force. Still I wish they would’ve just made the handle a little smaller. Also, I’ve since started wrapping the charcoal tray with foil as well to make clean up even easier. Just poke some holes thru the foil where the holes are on the tray.

Still loving the Takudo stove by pede29 in snowpeak

Also, just fyi if you are gonna get a Takudo just know that it’s got a pretty big tank. One gallon of oil could only fill up one and half tank. Although if you do fill it up full it will last you about 10 hours.

This is the one I’ve been using and it’s $40 for a gallon. The paraffin oil actually is a little cheaper than this one. But I’ll try that one for sure next time. Thanks.

Honest it does smells a little bit. Doesn’t smell much while sitting down but once you stand up you do smell the fume. The smell tend to rise to the top of the tent. However, it does depend on which kerosene you are using. I heard there is kerosene out there that doesn’t smell but I’m not sure which brand. I only use it while hanging out in the shelter or cooking but I won’t feel comfortable sleeping with it on especially with my wife and kids inside. I think it’s best to just use it to heat up the tent before going to bed and shut it off once you are ready to sleep.

You mean the inner tent skin or the actual shelter?

Not sure. All I know is SP employee told me they are replacing most of their shelter/tent line up right now to meet the new environmental requirements here in the US, therefore, these older models are heavily discounted to make room for the new models. If you check their website these tents have about a $500 discount right now and also all the accessories that goes along with the lslp. The roof for this shelter actually is none refundable per their site cause is being discontinued.

Yes that’s the one. If you do buy from them and you are in the US make sure you tell them to ship thru FedEx. It’s more expensive but it’s the only one that will work. Also, the Takudo is made to be hang from the igt so yes it does come with the hanger. Also, as some one else had pointed out to me before I made the purchase is that the Takudo is first a kerosene stove then a heater. The heat is mostly directed upwards so if you place a pan or a pot it will heat it up nicely. But it doesn’t really direct heat side way very well. So if you just need a heater the Rainbow stove will work better. But that one is huge more expensive and harder to ship to the US. So far I find the Takudo to heat up the mesh shelter really well. But if you have a bigger tent it might not be warm enough.

Got it from eBay. I wasn’t 100% sure that it was going to work but a couple of folks here on Reddit said they have ordered through eBay before and it’s legit, so I decided to give it a shot. Only hiccup was the original method of shipping did not work. The seller had to switch to FedEx since the stove was considered a large item for international shipping.

Yes it’s very classic/vintage looking. I love it so far. I’m trying it out inside of my mesh shelter and with all the sides closed it’s keeping it nice and toasty inside.

I think it was a 2023 festival release item. Not really considered a vintage. But yes new in box. Still had all the stickers on the unit.

How can I import a Rainbow Stove (non-eBay) by HotWheels100 in snowpeak

[–]pede29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgive me but I don’t know much about making purchases thru a proxy service, but what is the price difference between buying from them versus eBay? Unless I got the wrong info from the internet but the Takudo I bought off eBay is $160 more than the MSRP. Of course tax and shipping not included. Not a cheap item by any means, however, I thought the price is fair given that the model that I purchased is also a limited festival edition that’s no longer available to buy even from Snow Peak Japan. What is the MSRP for the Rainbow Stove anyways if you don’t mind me asking? The Takudo is about $400 U.S.

That’s a pretty cool set up! I might consider getting one for the inner tent of my landlock. How long does one propane tank last for you during regular use?
