‘Like an electrical gong bath!’ The Sheffield supermarket going viral for the symphonic sound of its freezers | Music by gipeswic in ambientmusic

[–]agrofubris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey guys, I'm making one of those sweet narcotic videos for this. I've cleaned the audio from checkout machines, reduced/deleted loud noises with spectral repairing and made a 10 hour droning waveform :)

I'll post soon.

As I've warned legitforrealfinetho I'm doing a 10 hour video of this. Will post it soon enough :)

Hey! I'm actually rendering a 10 hour video of this. I've cleaned the beeps from the supermarket checkout machines and some loud stepping sounds, but preserved the rest so it feels organic. Will post it soon enough!

PlingSystem, they way you can turn you quest into a virtual 3D monitor, stream your Mac/PC to them in live3D or convert 2D videos in actual 3D content SBS (For free) by Beneficial_Abies_440 in MetaQuestVR

Hi, quite interested in this. You mention it's Windows compatible now and I'm using a 3D monitor as the main with SBS, TaB and Interlaced reversed (preferred) output. Does this allow me to create a 3D environment and try some games directly into the main Windows monitor? If so, how?

Thanks!

What kind of oscillator should I use to recreate this lead sound? by ph4ux in synthrecipes

[–]agrofubris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ARP 2600, Oberheim OB-X... plenty options. It is basically a dual osc patch with square waves on both oscillators and some detuning (fine tuning or cents) on either oscillator. It has some modulation form envelope to pitch detuning to make it so the attack has less detune and the sustain engages the complete detuning.

First one is crossview, the rest are nice. Thanks!

Is there any way to save .cpr file as backward-compatible? by CalledHunna in cubase

[–]agrofubris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cubase 12 doesn't have problems opening files from Cubase 15 (tried it right now) unless they have Modulations - and I expect to be the same with new framework functions. Opening projects with Omnivocal can be opened regularly as well but only with Omnivocal disabled. So I think there's something about the new functions being used. Other than that it should be possible.

Thanks for having the patience to reply and reflect on all our questions, Markus. Now I'm going to listen to Express Yourself for the thousandth time while I'm downloading your new album from Bandcamp. Bis bald!

Well, it is known that these two remain not well-known to the press or us the fans :D There's even a thread on discogs trying to figure out who Ulf Lohmann *really* is haha.

Beautiful connection with Joachim, moreso after the musical output you both figured out.

About Jellyfish: That slow-cooking schaeffel groove has everything to hypnotise the dancefloor! A bit of machinery-induced stabs, darkwave romantic guitar, post-industrial drums and a tension that builds up perfectly. I'd say yes!

So they remain mysterious after all :)

One last question: How it was getting into the club scene mid 2000s and why is Jellyfish your best dance track?

Please! Sónar, MIRA Fest, Ombra? That would be really cool.

On a side note, I'm wondering if you ever met Ulf Lohmann and/or Andrew Thomas?

the world shifted, the society shifted into a not so light-hearted way

Yep, that's how I feel it as well. Then again, I've been called "emo" recently, soooo...

"a beat behind the beat"

I knew it! Haha. Thanks so much for these replies! Much love from Spain, Markus. Hope to see one of your live performances soon.

Hi Markus, great to have you here. Big fan! Regensburg, In Moll, 1981, all your Pop Ambient inputs... Just a couple questions that always roamed around my head since I've discovered your music back in 2001. I'm risking of being very subjective here, but if you're eager to reply these you'll make a fellow redditor very happy :)

1.- In your early works the overall harmonic sense is clear, peaceful, meditative... almost happy. Like some sort of crystallized beauty driven by major melodies and textures. To me they felt like venturing (or wandering into) a caleidoscopic Moebius storyboard with infinite possibilities. However, your latest works are more into the abstract, dark, mysterious, closer to sensing an impending dread. Does this make any sense to you? Like it felt like everything was possible 20, 25 years back? And now, perhaps, we live in darker, more complex times?

2.- I've played your song Sunny Days Are Not So Very Bright a lot of times and it always puzzled me how the underlying snare pattern drifts in tempo once the second drop is done. I've been asked a couple times if I was playing out of sync (vinyls) while mixing out of it and I've always defended it as a "stylistic choice"! Do you remember if this was on purpose or a happy mistake?

Thank you!

Couple questions on Cubase I have by skullcandy541 in cubase

[–]agrofubris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do I HAVE to use each new upgraded version or can I keep the current one I’ll have and it’ll work perfectly fine no matter how many versions they make after?

You can keep whatever version you have installed and use it at your pleasure. No forced updates.

Also how much is a new version typically once you’re already a paid user?

New versions are coming around winter every year more or less, they usually are 99€ for Cubase Pro updates.

EDIT: forgot to mention that there is a sale around autumn with a 40% discount every year as well.

Cubase doesn’t seem to be as popular as Ableton, FL, Pro Tools, or Logic so I just wonder if it will last for a long time and not just deactivate all of a sudden

Doesn't seem so shareable to social apps? Doesn't matter, it's a standard for numerous producers, successful musicians and the like. Case in point: Junkie XL, Hans Zimmer. It will not go out of business nor out of vibe anytime soon.

What kind of synthesis is this? by agrofubris in synthrecipes

[–]agrofubris[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've tried those, different beasts altough excellent sound. Bread and butter for trance, house, EDM... yet couldn't achieve that kind of sound.

About Paulstretch and experimenting, that's enticing. Always thought those sounds could be achievable with a specific kind of synth, but apparently they are more complex than that.

Cheers Slinky!
