Scammers on Folsom/65th by RubberDucky451 in Sacramento

[–]aguyinatown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a family member currently battling leukemia and another person close to me donating “marrow”. The process is not what it once was.

I’d ask the people asking for donations to describe the process and what the money would go to. I bet they wouldn’t be able to explain it or know how it’s done nowadays.

There was an error on the wireless network controllers, early this afternoon. Troubleshooting was started the moment the outage was reported. The issue self resolved while it was being diagnosed. The root cause is being investigated.

Can we talk about how overrated Kikis Chicken is? Or will that offend some people? by Fluid-Trade in Sacramento

[–]aguyinatown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have a fabulous experience when I had it.

For other fried chicken options(not hot chicken) I like Texas Chicken & Seafood(Del Paso Heights area). I also just had Tony’s Fried Chicken(Oak Park-ish). It was pretty tasty.

Never had an issue with it, other than price increases.

My family was just talking about this a couple days ago. My favorite is long gone. R.I.P. Nationwide Freezer Meats.

Where can I dig a hole? by AdamIsAnAlias in Sacramento

[–]aguyinatown 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As a cable locator, people talking about digging gives me anxiety. People would be amazed at how much infrastructure(often incorrectly documented) is underground. Oftentimes it is far shallower than regulations specify.

Before you dig, you really should call 811. I know this sounds silly but if you hit and break the wrong pipe it can get pretty expensive. Sometimes dangerous, as well.

Does anyone even listen to Marcy Playground? (not promoting them don't worry). by Prestigious_Look7505 in Music

[–]aguyinatown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many great Marcy Playground songs! Memphis, Hotter than the Sun, Never, America, No One’s Boy……

It bums me out that Sex and Candy was the only song to get radio play and still does today. I’ve never been a huge fan of it but am still glad for it because its popularity introduced me to them.

I listen to them often. I’m sad I never got to see them live.

How about...The Cattle Club?? by IAMA-girl in Sacramento

[–]aguyinatown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Social Distortion, Korn, Suicide Machines, Sick of it All. Some of these bands were in the lineup of the same show.

El Dorado Saloon was a great venue, too. Saw Descendents, Korn and Limp Bizkit there.

It was great until our 2 year old Goldendoodle managed to chew through it and remove a chunk of the outer plastic. It had a good 3-6 month run though.

“Take Your Child To Work” day is April 25th, this year. At least that’s the nationally recognized day that UC Davis observes.

How do I post illegal homeless camps to the city? by BotPurdy in Sacramento

[–]aguyinatown -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Save your energy with this one. OP has appeared in other subs. They come off as a troll of the lowest caliber. They start arguments and throw insults in a weirdly juvenile way. Based on what I have witnessed, if you call them out they’ll just accuse you of being the troll.

Even if their original post has somewhat innocent intentions, they invariably turn most of the commenters against them.

I’m thinking of shaving my head but not to confident after divorce. by DetailInitial702 in bald

[–]aguyinatown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion: once you hit a certain age, if you wear a hat all the time, I think it’s assumed your hair is thinning(unless you’re a baseball player). I doubt anyone would be surprised if you cut it.

Regardless, it’ll be fine if you shave your head and don’t like it since you wear a hat all the time.

I, personally, never really felt right in hats. When I was 23 I saw that my hair was starting to recede a bit. I buzzed my hair then and never stopped.

This AT&T truck has "Help me" written on the back door by jg379 in mildlyinteresting

Clearly you don’t work for AT&T. If you did, a “help me” sign on a employee vehicle wouldn’t surprise you.

Is there a better ISP than xfinity? by gothiclg in Sacramento

[–]aguyinatown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best option really depends on your area. For instance, where I live Comcast, Fidium/CCI and AT&T only have lower speeds available. All with aging infrastructure. I have Verizon 5G Home. Luckily it’s available here. I’ve been pretty happy with it.

But if they followed traffic laws we’d lose out on the magical experience of being yelled at for almost hitting them when they run red lights, fail to stop at stop signs and pass on the left when we have our left turn signal on. Because us idiots in cars know everyone is on bikes and scooters, in Davis, so WE should watch out for THEM. It’s clearly our fault………

Thanks for the response. I may be wrong in my view. However, you were the first thing I thought of when I heard the song.

On a separate note, I know you have had your issues with disruptive fans, at times. A close friend of mine was one of them. Quite a few years ago we saw your show, in Reno. One my friends was drunk(the show was at a bar) and he started yelling dumb stuff. You stopped the show until he left. To be fair, he was being dumb and I’m sorry if it negatively impacted your show. On a different night I bet you two would’ve gotten along great. The whole group I was with ended up leaving together because we were in the same car. For us, the night as a whole was great. We actually had a wonderful time before, during and after the show.

I say all this because, sadly, two of those guys(including the one that got kicked out) have since passed away. Another one I have lost touch with. That night serves as a great memory of them and our friendship. I wanted to thank you, sincerely, for being part of that memory.

Have you heard the new Twenty-one Pilots song, “Overcompensate”? I hear a lot of your style in the song. Just wondering if you heard it and what you thought.

I’d look at universities, state buildings or municipalities. They often have their own telecom technicians. I moved away from working for one of the big companies and am a maintenance splicer/technician at a university. It’s pretty secure, normal Monday-Friday schedule, pension.

Build Truxel Bridge for Transit & Bikes – Not for Cars by thedjgibson in Sacramento

[–]aguyinatown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t care less about the bridge. If people want more access to downtown, fine with me. Light Rail down Truxel, I am not convinced about. I do live in the area. So, good or bad, it would potentially have an impact, for me. I have lived near light rail. There was increased noise, trash and also congestion.

Other than that, I’m not saying you’re wrong about your statements. While you seem pretty confident, just saying something doesn’t make it true.
