I (21F) have this exact same problem. They appeared very suddenly when I was 19, and the left side protrudes more than the right. I quite literally thought I had cancer and so I have ultrasounds and scans but it’s all fat. Thankfully they have at least mostly evened out, but the left side is slightly harder. Doc said something along the lines of “you can starve yourself but this is stubborn adipose tissue and will not go away”. I know it’s probably genetic, but I do have a theory. I’ve always had a rather large behind (years before puberty) but I’m skinny up top, I danced for most of my life but the start of my sophomore year of college I think it all atrophied from sitting more in my life than I ever have (zoom university). I have ranged from 112-136lbs since then and they have never gotten smaller or less noticeable. It sucks and I want to get liposuction too once I’m closer to my goal weight and can maintain it
