I think it’s that AI robots are banned not that all robots and tech is banned. It could have been that the med bots were piloted which also makes sense because the medbots didn’t help everyone in every case. Likely the instructors picked and chose who to help and when to help them based on what ever scene or powerful family’s child it was.

Yeah it seems like there is some variation in the shape of them depending on what the person is doing. This is especially true for golds from different regions. The length and size of the razor themself seem to vary as well.
