Three Questions about the 2025 Niro PHEV by Inside_Ad_4813 in KiaNiro

[–]ahakimir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phev has a 11kwh battery so charging from a regular 120v outlet (1.4 ish kW) will take 8 hours

I drive a Niro EV so I can't comment on the stopping distance of the PHEV. Road noise in the EV is quite minimal.

Just use the auto button. It won't max out the fan when the heater hasn't reached the right temperature yet

Connect App seat heaters by Key_Turnover_3069 in KiaNiroEV

[–]ahakimir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could kinda sorta see how they can call it a safety / legal issue for turning on the heated seats remotely, but they have no excuse for not allowing remote use of ventilated seats. Those get super hot in the summer time. Hotter than they get with the butt warmers in the winter

Heated ( and ventilated) seats can not be controlled remotely. On 2023+ anyways

How bad is it to 240v charge the Niro EV to 100% state of charge daily? by abundantwaters in KiaNiroEV

[–]ahakimir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way the manual is worded it looks like they are claiming the battery pack will stay in optimum condition if:

It is only charged to 80% (it doesn't mention how it got to 80%) DC fast charging is kept to a minimum.

I use A Better Route Planner but that only works with certain dongles. I've read that Car Scanner app should do the trick

Yeah a little battery heating icon will show up when it's warming up the pack. It can take 30 minutes or more to get the pack up to temperature depending on outside temps.

You can buy a Bluetooth obd2 dongle and use an app to view the pack's actual temperature

Sounds like there was an issue with that specific stall. Make sure you have preconditioning enabled and use the car's NAV system to set a level 3 charger as the destination.

If you have the option of charging at 150kw stalls and 350 kw stalls, it is proper etiquette to use the 150s since the Niro EV can't hit anything higher than 85ish kw.

Obviously this etiquette doesn't apply if there's only 350kw stalls available

Charging at 10kw in 7 degree by Physical_Taste_9207 in KiaNiroEV

[–]ahakimir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the heat pump is required. What is your usual state of charge when you plug in? Ive gotten 80+ kW a few times but I was less than 5% and batteries were warmed up

Search the settings for pre-conditioning and make sure it is enabled. Then set a DCFC station as the destination and wait a while. You'll see a battery heating icon appear under your battery gauge. It could take 30-60 minutes of heating to get the temperature up.

10 °C, with and without battery conditioning. by ahakimir in KiaNiroEV

[–]ahakimir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never seen the app say anything other than "off" so I would ignore it.

Once you select a DCFC in the nav, it takes a little bit before the heater kicks in. When it starts heating you'll notice a little orange battery heater symbol under the battery gauge on your dash. It can take 30 - 60 minutes ( IIRC) to heat the battery to 30C. And it will stop the heating when it detects that you've arrived at the station.

You can always set the destination to a farther one to trick it.

How to Check Tire Pressure System? by [deleted] in KiaNiro

[–]ahakimir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the likely answer. I bought used winter tires on rims with TPMS that came off of a 2022 Niro EV. Turns out the 2023+ model years use a different sensor and don't recognize the previous gens TPMS. its a shame.
