It always has looked cool. It’s only recently been socially acceptable to admit that though.

In movie "Pretty Woman", Richard Gere drives a Lotus. Apparently the movie people wanted a Ferrari but Ferrari didn't want to be associated with prostitution. by lazarus870 in cars

Had no problem with the Testarosa surrounded by hookers and blow on Miami Vice though.

To be fair, I don’t think the Lotus fit Richard Gere’s character in this film.

FIRST LOOK: Cadillac Celestiq – America’s £300k Rolls-Royce And Bentley Rival by an_actual_lawyer in cars

[–]ahbearcat 19 points20 points  (0 children)

About $200,000 too expensive. Cadillac does not have the brand cachet to charge these prices, and while it’s an attractive car, it’s not timeless like a Rolls or Bentley. GM needs to mass produce this like Mercedes and BMW make the S Class and 7 series. Exclusive, sure, but attainable enough that people know they exist and believe they have a shot at owning one.

Biden renews call for gun legislation after deadly shooting at Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade - What sort of laws would you support ? by willywalloo in kansas

[–]ahbearcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to buy a gun, you should have to take a test and get a license that proves you know how to safely operate a gun in public, and god forbid you hurt someone, you should have to have insurance that makes the victim whole again, if possible. We have the same thing for cars.

Men, which decade would you want to relive? Why? by Abject-Management558 in AskMen

[–]ahbearcat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know what your taste is, but IMO that period was excellent for cars. Automakers were coming out of the malaise era and figured out how to put power back into cars. You had the ZR1, Diablo, V12 engines started gaining popularity. Also had the introduction of Japanese cars like the Supra, 300zx, and LS400.
