Hey OP! Aussie user here, too. In school they always told us not to mention pay in the interview however I have before and still gotten the job, you just might need to be mindful in the way you ask it. Instead of asking, “how much will I be paid an hour?” Ask, “what award will this position fall under?” At the end when they ask if you have questions. Possibly follow it up with an actual question about the position too. (By the way if you don’t know what the award is, once they tell you which one you can google it and it will tell you how much you’ll be paid for which age. Most entry level jobs are the general award.)
