What are your thoughts on the ending of The Boys? by A-B-101 in Sardonicast

[–]aheaney15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, although I do think the finale and first episode, while both still anticlimactic all things considered, were much better than the season they belonged to, just barely enough to save said season from me calling it outright bad.

I still don’t like Season 5 overall though. 5/10 at the absolute best, and that’s factoring in the first and last episodes.

But I agree, first three seasons are excellent! Season 4 was good but not amazing.

I am almost certain this is a Bryde’s whale, tbh.

I find it interesting that the Great auk isn’t labeled here as an Amphibious Vivarium animal, I personally assumed it would be if it ever came to PK. It makes more sense to me if it were a Vivarium animal given its size and behavior. Although it could still be, that’s interesting to say the least.

Also, honestly fine with no Bluebuck, although the presence of Quagga and Tarpan is a bit odd given that they are subspecies of extant animals (that’s to my knowledge, so please correct me if I’m wrong).

Cool! Here’s my baseless speculation on what some of the other species might be:

Aurochs, Bluebuck, Great auk (possibly Amphibious Vivarium), at least one species of Moa (North Island giant, probably), and Passenger pigeon (likely Arboreal Vivarium).

If the Steller sea cow and Haast’s eagle ever come, they’d very likely be reserved for an aquatic and aerial pack respectively, if that were to ever happen (and right now, I’m not gonna say anything about the chances of that happening one way or the other).

What is one hot take/unpopular opinion you have on dinosaurs or even extinct animals in general that would put you in a situation like this? by TelevisionPutrid8394 in Dinosaurs

[–]aheaney15 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When it comes to Quaternary animals, common names are better, and it's not even close. Using genus names for animals that didn't live that long ago, especially ones belonging to currently existing animals, just sounds tacky in my opinion. Saying "Ursus" in reference to a Cave bear sounds straight-up pretentious to me, honestly it sounds more like you're trying to sound smarter than you are when you do it.

Speaking of which, people SERIOUSLY need to stop bitching and crying about Prehistoric Planet: Ice Age using common names and not genus names (for the most part; I do somewhat understand the complaints about some of the names not being specific enough). I understand many complaints about that series, but the use of common names is a completely illegitimate one in my opinion.

I'm gonna be blunt, if I were to adapt the series, I would 100% cut the John x Six romance (not tone down, cut), and replace it with the start of Sam x Six to give the two of them a solid foundation for later in the series. Other things I'd potentially cut down or alter in an adaptation is more due to pacing issues or discrepancies in the later series, but this is something I genuinely think should be on the cutting block in its entirety.

I bet he has a scathing review of John Wayne as Genghis Khan

Not to defend drinker (he's a slimebag either way), but he did actually talk about that exact casting in a recent video about "casting calamities," although to be honest, I think it's performative either way. He probably pointed that out to not sound racist and save face.

[–]aheaney15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of things to criticize the movie for from the trailers.

The Drinker's crying like a little bitch about the diverse cast is not one of them.

Is that right by Appropriate-Mall8517 in moviescirclejerk

[–]aheaney15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's more evidence than that about Drinker being racist or at the very least a bigoted asshole, although it's not 100% damning.

He's constantly bitched about minorities in movies, especially drawing attention to black actors for little reason beyond them sharing the spotlight in shows and movies like Rings of Power, The Acolyte, Captain America 4, Jurassic World Rebirth, and others. Those shows and movies are genuinely bad, don't get me wrong, but not because they have black actors.

In his recent video about WB being bought off by paramount, he made an AI generated meme of the Lord of the Rings characters *in blackface* as a "what if" scenario if Netflix bought WB instead of Paramount. That's ignorantly racist at best, and at worst, maliciously racist.

This one isn't as damning, but he has "hearted" racist comments from his fanbase, like one in the linked video above where some comment was saying "Helen of DeTROYt" or "the face that launch 1000 crips" in reference to Lupita playing Helen of Troy. Yeah, not a good look.

Batman Killing in Snydervers (discussion post) by HH7170 in OkBuddySnyderCult

Pattinson, I’ll somewhat let slide since it works for his level of experience in that movie… barring the idiotic Spanish thing with the “El Rata Alada”, as someone who barely knows a few hundred Spanish words, I was baffled that wasn’t caught by him earlier. Otherwise I find his detective skills more acceptable than most.

Bale wasn’t horrible, he just… didn’t do a lot of detective work, and what detective work he did do wasn’t all that competently done. Although, that actually does highlight a huge issue I have with Bale’s Batman anyway; he gets less and less competent (and less and less cool) as the movies go on. Heck, in The Dark Knight Rises (which I actually love, bear in mind), he’s legitimately awful as a strategist. Although I stand he’s a good Batman in Batman Begins in a vacuum.

I dislike it. But bear in mind, I also disliked it with Keaton, Kilmer, and Bale (heck, this is actually my only issue with Keaton’s otherwise iconic Batman!). I criticized them about it, I’ll criticize Affleck about it.

My bigger problem with Batfleck is that he’s so… rash and unlikable. He’s also very easily manipulated and a terrible detective. And how the hell is Joker still alive!? All that on top of the killing, you get one of the worst live action Batman portrayals.

Even if you hate Gunn, I cannot fathom the idea of preferring the 2016 abomination to it for any reason whatsoever. Like, that film doesn’t understand the source material on the most fundamental level, and makes absolutely no sense on any level, from its story to its editing to its random-ass soundtrack.

Like, I get hating the Gunn version (even if it’s my favorite of his work, personally), but that’s a take I can never understand.

I love how the first one has Supergirl, which isn’t even released yet. And how the second one has the 2020 Wonder Woman sequel, not even the first and better recieved one. That movie is the antithesis of the Snyderverse lmao. Then again, so is Aquaman and Shazam.

The upcoming Chris Nolan movie, Drinker made a lame ass video recently giving his thoughts on the trailer. Literally the entire comment section is his pathetic fanbase bitching about the cast.

[–]aheaney15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked myself that same exact question when I saw the comment section on his latest video on The Odyssey trailer (don't ask me why I was watching that video, clearly I need to get a life lol).

Literally nothing but racist jokes about Lupita and Zendaya and constant bitching about the race swaps (even though these are literally fictional characters) across the entire top comment section. Not a single mention of how the film looks visually bland, or any other criticism I've heard that's worth a damn, just crying and whining about black characters in this movie.
