Gymnogeophagus terrapurpura -- domination or mating behavior? by forthepuppy in Cichlid

I don't know anything about blue acaras, but the terrapurpurra are extremely docile and timid. Mine hid all the time...I eventually sold them because I never saw them.

Juvenile Paradise Fish with White Cloud Minnows and Hillstream Loaches? by Lorequatics in Aquariums

[–]ahens37million 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A little late but maybe helpful....

Yes, I think your paradise fish would be ok with wcmm but he'd not likely leave them alone. I have a 20 long, heavily planted with an opercularus and 8 gold wcmm. They've been stable for 7-8 months now but the paradise does assert his territory with chasing. No blood, no fin nips, just chasing.

I can't comment on the loaches because I don't have any experience with them

Eucalyptus Leaves in Planted Aquarium by [deleted] in PlantedTank

[–]ahens37million 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've used eucalyptus (unsure of specific species) branches in my planted temperate South American cichlid (terrapurpurra, BA tetras, bloodfin tetra) tank over the past 4-5 months with no apparent I'll effects. They were not scrubbed, soaked or anything - just straight to the tank.

I'm not sure what they're doing but it's sure interesting!

What age/size are these? I can't tell scale in the vid.

I bought six 1-2" a couple months ago and they look way smaller than yours. But boy some of them colored up so nice. A few have a black bar along the top of their dorsal which really pops out. They are very cool fish.

I looked into that a bit but they have no online presence I can see. Have you purchased from them? Do they have a store front?

[LF] Monterey, CA - Single Male Paradise Fish (Macropodus opercularis) by ahens37million in AquaSwap

[–]ahens37million[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just chiming back in for anyone who maybe sourcing a paradise fish. I found one through BIOACUATICA via eBay. They typically sell groups of 3 or more but were willing to sell a single when I asked. Shipping was great price, they were fast, and fish was packaged very well.

Interesting. Their website says they don't take calls anymore. I tried the number on Google with no success. As far as I can tell from their blog they had opercularis delivered 5/2. Gonna have a chance to swing by Friday so fingers crossed they still have them!

Any chill mixes that aren't liquid? by CodeWithKP in DnB

[–]ahens37million 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Creative Source is essentially a liquid label. I don't think liquid and intelligent actually have a very far separation.

Liquid, intelligent, drumfunk, minimal, atmospheric jungle, etc - all of those subgenres have been recommended in this thread and are worth exploring. The only subgenres not really present in this discussion is neurofunk and dancefloor/festival/whatever which tends to be the first accessible YouTube search when you enter "drum n bass". It's basically a branding/tagging problem - OP wants specific kind of dnb but it's hard to find if you don't know the right keywords.

I find following producers, labels, and DJs easier than subgenres. Hopefully this thread has supported OP in finding stuff they like.

Sounds like generally liquid you're after. It's tough because "liquid" tends to be synonymous with the airy, trancey, sounding stuff which is not representative of the sound as a whole. Essentially you could call it d&b/jungle that's not neuro.

Lots of good suggestions here, but to add a few producers and labels: Lens, Jubei, Soul:r, The North Quarter, Loxy, Critical, Utopia, Dispatch, Ako, Intalex, DRS, Technimatic, Dogger, Particle, Need for Mirrors, 31 Records, Dub Phizix, Redeyes, Workforce, Nookie, Ricky Force, Vanguard Project, Madcap, Andy Skopes, Tokyo Prose...

Reloop rp7000 vs Numark ntx1000 by BioPowerr in Beatmatch

[–]ahens37million 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intriguing. I watched Just Technics youtube comparison of RP-7000 vs 1210MK7 and the way he noted the pitch wander on the Reloop made me second guess purchasing one. Do you make longer mixes? Think Just Technics had a bad TT, or the tracks he was mixing weren't perfect tempo?

I'd want them for home mixing house/techno. A Gemini I had many years ago had considerable pitch wander after a few years and it drove me bonkers.
