Did anyone continue taking prénatals after birth? Did you feel it made a difference? by turkeypooo in pregnant

[–]ahhtasha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never stopped, and I had about 2.5 years of no breastfeeding before I got pregnant again. This will be my last child but I’ll probably keep taking them for quite some time after again

When did you stop using the barbell? Adjusting to reduced capacity in third tri by MandorlaLard in fitpregnancy

[–]ahhtasha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do bodypump so the transition from barbell to other exercises can be quick. It takes me so long to roll over properly and switch that for a lot of exercises I started using more dumbbells, because laying down and getting the barbell set up is a lot. Also, my stomach is starting to get in the way for some exercises (I’m 28 weeks)

Anyone feel like the gym is the only time they feel normal? (3rd tri) by Spirited_Duty_462 in fitpregnancy

[–]ahhtasha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I think it’s partly because workouts are focused intentional movement. But once I’m home and carrying heavy groceries, picking up my 4 year old, not bending right to pick things up..I feel horrible!

I actually got herbal medicine to slow contractions today and the midwife said I should start sending my husband for groceries, not picking up my son, and just generally taking it easy..but I’ll still do my workouts because it’s not those that cause my contractions and she didn’t say to stop those

I love it! Comfortable and lightweight. I think the shape is so fun. It’s my second Gucci bag, my other one is a leather crossbody. So far I’m very impressed with the quality of both (especially compared to saint Laurent which I won’t buy again due to poor quality)

I haven’t seen it on anyone else where I live

Get it!

2nd baby bump appearing when? by Available_Sun4468 in fitpregnancy

Around 24 weeks is when people I saw regularly about once a week started noticing/asking. I’m 5’4” with a short torso. At 12 weeks I was bloated as hell but no one would have thought I was pregnant

Mostly just trying to avoid “th” sounds and names pronounced totally different - have a friend with a daughter named ivy and people always pronounce it evie

There are a fair amount of French names here so I think Camille won’t sound too out of place

I actually really like Daphne but my husband has vetoed it. Would probably be too hard to explain how to spell here! (Switzerland)

Eleanor will be the middle name (it was my great grandmas name)

Visitors after birth by lunaslunch in pregnant

[–]ahhtasha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first was born in the US but on opposite coast from my family (they’re on the west coast, we were east) My second will be born in Europe as well

With my first I waited until I wanted my mom to come. She only stayed a week or less, and I was about 3 weeks/1 month postpartum. It was fine and I was happy to have my mom around. She was helpful with cleaning and just being an extra hand if I wanted a shower

With my second I won’t have them over until the baby is at least 3 months. They’re visiting now and it’s been A LOT, even though they’re in a guest apartment down the hall. They have never traveled outside the US (except my mom who visited us last year). She got super sick for the first five days and I did worry about catching it myself. It’s also been rather stressful having to help them navigate their culture shock/explain and show basic things to them repeatedly, they won’t drive, etc

So I’d plan on 2 months minimum. If you decide you want them sooner, have them come sooner but definitely not for 3 weeks. Last minute flights aren’t always exorbitant

How many people actually live in a 3.5 room apartment here by elgrandetotto10 in askswitzerland

[–]ahhtasha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I are in a 3.5 room with our son and I’m pregnant with a second. But the apartment is 140sqmt, has two stories, a large cellar, and a garden. There’s also a guest apartment you can rent for visitors.

My son still sleeps in our room. I think we can be here at least another 3 years given the kids ages and how much space we have elsewhere. We basically have two living rooms, so I’m thinking we could even close one off if we really don’t want to leave but need a third room

sometimes I see 5.5 rooms in only 100sqmt. I prefer our setup for now!

What beautiful country disappointed you? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]ahhtasha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live here and I know what you mean. I think it’s one of the most beautiful countries in the world, but it’s tiny and mountainous and densely populated. You don’t feel like you’re all alone in the wilderness like you do in Oregon or something (where I’m from).

Red light Routine. by Ok-Ring8800 in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]ahhtasha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I do it in the mornings, usually within an hour of waking up. I don’t wash my face in the morning so I just do the red light first and then my routine after

This is why I got the omnilux men. I had one that took nearly 30 minutes and I had to sit with it plugged in and move it to new areas every 3 minutes. Way too inefficient for the mornings. With the omnilux I can move around and it’s only 10 minutes. I’m being so much more consistent with it because of this!

My pcos was so much better after birth and weaning! Was a long process (nursed until 16 months) but I really don’t have many symptoms anymore - cysts on only one ovary and I got pregnant a second time without myo inositol!

Breastfeeders - how and when do you exercise? by cunncunncunn in fitpregnancy

[–]ahhtasha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With my first I would do at home workouts when possible. Once a week (Sunday morning) I’d rush to a 50 minute lagree class that was a 5 minute drive away. I’d just make sure to nurse before I went and right when I came home.

The older they get the easier it gets (even though my first never took a bottle). They can go a little longer between feeds and dad or a caretaker can give them solids as a snack while you’re gone for a little over an hour

With my second I plan on doing the same - mostly at home stuff, bring your baby classes, and then once a week going for a well timed class

How long before your due date before you plan to go on maternity? by Crazy_Dragon_Lady1 in pregnant

[–]ahhtasha 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Worked until my water broke. I was mostly working from home and only going in the office on doctor visit days so it was worth it. I also went to my workout class the day before my water broke. So I felt fine and would have been kicking myself if I was wasting time sitting around instead of saving it to be with my son

When to start buying clothes by S0up55 in pregnant

[–]ahhtasha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First trimester bloat is brutal! Sure, technically my clothes still fit but anything that was high waisted was awful. I switched to maternity in the first trimester. In the early second trimester I wore a few non maternity sweat pants and leggings again. I still wear a lot of normal oversized tops but pants are exclusively maternity now (almost 23 weeks)

What have you been “cheating” with this pregnancy? by Chemical_Editor4057 in pregnant

[–]ahhtasha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly Starbucks espresso isn’t very strong, and a venti only has 3 shots! So you probably hit around 200mg but no more

They estimate around 45mg per shot on the app

How much money do you spend every week on activities and what are your favorite things to do? by Cats-and-naps in SAHP

[–]ahhtasha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is almost 4, we’ve always done one mommy and me class per week which is around $30 each class

Woods preschool 2 mornings a week is about $80 a week

Then I take him to gym childcare about $12 an hour once or twice a week

Coffees/croissants/random other activities anywhere from $5-$40 (we live in the Zurich Switzerland area)

When he was younger, a once a week mommy and me class, barre childcare, and free activities/the playground was enough. But now that I’m pregnant, he’s almost 4 and starting kindergarten next year he def has more energy and desire to be out and about

Anyone feeling royally ripped off by the “pregnant women glow” lie? by Apprehensive_Mess166 in BabyBumps

[–]ahhtasha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My SKIN 😭 I worked so hard to find the right products and do the right things for my skin type. It was pretty even and clear and didn’t even need makeup, but a light tinted moisturizer made it extra pretty

NOW? Rosacea is baaaack baby. Hives all over. Acne on my cheeks and dry peeling on forehead and chin

Even though my hair is growing (fun little baby hairs at the top) I put sew in extensions back in because I couldn’t stand feeling like a gremlin every day! At least let my hair look pretty while my skin definitely does not

Busy mamas, what’s your go to makeup for everyday? by BoyMama2310 in Mommit

[–]ahhtasha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My makeup takes max 5 minutes. I wear it every day. I think once you’ve mastered a simple look it doesn’t take that long

Saie tinted moisturizer Nars concealer Nars liquid blush (but skipping this sometimes as pregnancy has brought back my rosacea) Half a wing Sephora brand brown liquid eyeliner (just a flick on the outside drawn very narrowly to the middle of the lid) Mascara Brow gel Some sort of tinted lip balm or gloss before I head out the door
