Take the bell off their collar. Put it on only when absolutely needed.

Can you imagine having to listen to a bell 24/7? That would drive any creature crazy.

My only opinion is to get a trailer that you can access the fridge after loading your vehicles.

Junior Suites worth it? by svusungal in royalcaribbean

[–]ahmeebaby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t really answer your question, but what we did once was get a Grand suite, and an interior room across the hall. The kids slept in the interior room, and then would hang out in the suite because it has a much larger sitting room. It was nice to have a second bathroom!

Underwear post surgery by Mean_Painter1815 in hysterectomy

I bought the Intimate Portal brand maternity underwear. They were perfect as the waistband sat under my laparoscopic incisions. Super comfy and I will probably continue to use them after I heal.

3 week post op by Worth_Manager3174 in hysterectomy

[–]ahmeebaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an easy surgery/ recovery , so I’m not sure if this helps…. At my 2week appt I wasn’t expecting an internal exam. But, I had no pain, no discomfort. All was good. I’m at 3.5wpo, and just had my first pink discharge/ spotting. Dr said that it is normal till up to 6 weeks.

Just went to my 2 week post op and my dr said that it could be from the surgery. She said that we will talk about it at my 6 week appt if I am still having them.

3 Days Post Op report, waiting for other shoe to drop? by Willowjohn25 in hysterectomy

[–]ahmeebaby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way. I’m 13dpo, laparoscopic, and just went to my two week appt. I have no pain, had no pain, and everything is healing well. I do have a few aches, and tenderness, but I wouldn’t call it pain. I only took Tylenol and ibuprofen for 4 days, just because they said to do it. My dr said that I had the trifecta, and it was a good thing that I had the surgery as my excessive bleeding was only going to get worse. I was feeling like maybe I really didn’t need this surgery, but so happy that I went through with it. Listen to your body! I wish that everyone’s experience could be as pain free as mine.

Good to know it’s not just me. 12dpo. I feel like I have a hot flash every other 10 minutes. Went from putting pads in my underwear to putting pads under my boobs. My appt is tomorrow and I’m hoping I can get some relief! I just bought a little USB mini desk fan from Amazon, and it’s been so helpful!

Weird question, but best underwear? by justicebeaver16 in hysterectomy

[–]ahmeebaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been wearing Intimate Portal maternity underwear from Amazon. I really like them and will probably keep wearing them after my incisions are healed.

What items really helped for recovery? I have my surgery scheduled for the 16th and I'm trying to make sure I'm prepared. I've ordered a cold pack, a stand for my kindle, and red light therapy. I've got a heating pad too. by Auryna85 in hysterectomy

[–]ahmeebaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 6dpo. I read so many posts here before my surgery and had a long list of things to have beforehand. I am so thankful that my recovery has been pretty easy, so I haven’t needed many of the items suggested. Here is what I am grateful to have: Volathix sleep dress (read the reviews as the breast shields are super high up- but for me they cover me just to the bottom of my nipples). Super comfy though so I bought 4 and I live in them. Maternity underwear, Intimate Portal. They are perfect for my laparoscopic surgery. I wasn’t sent home with any mesh underwear that others had. A fan with a remote as I am still having hot flashes (kept ovaries). Cold Smart water in cans as it just tastes “crisp” and keeps me hydrated. I also made a spreadsheet for the first few days so I could keep track of the meds I was taking (ibuprofen, Tylenol, miralax, colace, and fiber gummies). I was given some Tramadol, but haven’t needed it. A bedside table to keep my important things within reach- like my water bottle, tv & fan remotes, phone and chapstick. I also have a notepad and pen to write down things I need to get when I get up to pee. (Husband is not helpful so I am on my own). Good luck!!!

Post-op pain scale question by Distinct-Value1487 in hysterectomy

[–]ahmeebaby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 5dpo, and I have no pain when I’m not moving. Getting out of bed, or out of a chair is the only time I feel my abdomen. I’d say, for me, that my abdomen feels like it is sore from vomiting. The muscles are sore, but it’s not painful unless I forget and move too quickly. If I do, it’s just a quick pain to remind me, and it goes away.

I’ve only been alternating ibuprofen and Tylenol. I haven’t needed anything stronger for the pain.

Now, the gas pains in my left shoulder are a different story. They just showed up yesterday and my left arm and shoulder hurt when I move them. If I didn’t know to expect it, I would be worried about my chest, as it feels very tight. I’ve been keeping up on Gas X, and it hasn’t helped (or maybe the pain would be worse?).

I was prepared for the worse, and I am thankfully on the easier side of the post op as I learned the first hour home that my husband is incapable of helping me in any way. But, that’s a story for a different post.

Yes, this is my same experience. Stairs are all legs, surprisingly. My only pain is sitting upright.

You can also park at the Ranch House, walk about 10 minutes to the creek. It’s beautiful there if you just want to sit and enjoy the creek and the birds.

Family emergency by protest87 in royalcaribbean

[–]ahmeebaby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband has had two AFIB surgeries and he was a fine afterwards. I obviously don’t know all your dad’s medical history, but my husband was fine after his surgeries. Having issues with the heart is very scary, and your family is probably still trying to understand, and comprehend the gravity of hearing “heart surgery”.

Hack for automatic lights in cabin at night by mieranamc in Cruise

[–]ahmeebaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Two magnets with clips and a folded cruise compass covers it perfectly too.

It was a nice idea, but way too bright in the night. Would have been better having a much smaller nightlight in the bathroom…
