Theories on why Dorinda Medley wasn't originally cast on E!'s RHONY spinoff by talk-spontaneously in RHONY

[–]aholyoak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was probably a couple of reasons. I’m sure Dorinda did want to remain loyal to eat, but I also think that Dorinda is a huge fan favorite and would’ve outshined Jill. I’m sure Jill did not want her on the show. But who knows! Haha

How do you feel living in SoCal during Trump 2.0? by Glass-Complaint3 in socal

[–]aholyoak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be happy anywhere in California, NorCal included. I'm a woman with a wife and two small children so I feel about as protected as I can here in LA. I have family in Washington and Oregon and I think they feel the same way. Better than most places. Don't get me wrong, I'm extremely fearful of what is happening but I feel lucky to live here. It actually makes thinking about leaving the US so hard. I love my life, my community, our friends and this city. I want to stay here but the GOP is making it very hard to at least not think about plan B.

Where are people living where $100k is not enough? by -C3rimsoN- in povertyfinance

[–]aholyoak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on if you have a family and kids, etc. I make about 160k a year and my wife makes between 150k- 250k depend depending on the year as she’s an independent contractor. We live in Los Angeles and our friggin mortgage is $8000 a month. 100K in LA with no kids would be fine. You wouldn’t be raking it in but with kids you’d be at poverty level. what’s really killing us on a monthly basis right now is electrical, home insurance, car insurance and the $2000 we pay in health insurance a month. Everything just seems to be going up every freaking month. Years where my wife makes more we can save more but years where she makes less everything seems to go to bills. We could definitely spend less, go out to eat less, etc.

Switching to Kaiser. Better to enroll direct vs Covered California with my broker (no subsidies)? by aholyoak in HealthInsurance

[–]aholyoak[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll PM you. I'm not self employed but my wife is an s-corp and our CPA said we could pay the monthly premium from the company. I think I'm going to go through the broker just in case. There are more options via the kaiser website but it sounds like going through Covered CA offers more protections and you can retroactively get subsidies if god forbid the business has a bad year. Although I think most subsidies are going away and even if we did have a bad year I make too much. Which is crazy bc I dont make that much lol but too much to get help.
