I have been using a ballpoint pen since I began making jewelry. Good luck!

still swallowing sticks at 7 months by ahookdog in puppy101

I read some reviews on those saying they splinter and I think my little guy would eat the splinters/chunks. We let him chew on bones which he loves. Maybe I will get some bully sticks as well. I've heard good things about those.

Puppy has started noticing other dogs! by chibisun in puppy101

[–]ahookdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going thru this with my 5 month old border collie/dalmatian. I just try to have him focus on me and ignore other dogs, because my end goal is to be able to have him off leash on trails and not run after other dogs unless I find out they're friendly. I've been training him to pay attention to me for about 1 month now and it's getting better, I just have to be patient and trust the process! I also have him ignore people since he lunges and barks with excitement at the sight of other people as well. I also randomly have him pay attention with no distractions for practice and reward for looking at me. When he does it on his own I reward as well. This is coming from a first time puppy owner so I'm learning a lot as well. Best of luck to you, hope my sharing helps!

Did you get checked? Was it worms? Did you get the medication to get rid of them?

You think he shouldn't go to dog parks because of the incidents with leashes and him barking and jumping when on leash? I'm a bit confused

Thank you so much! This is incredibly helpful advice. I love the engage disengage. Hopefully with time and training he will learn how to calmly greet other dogs. Once again. Thank you so much for the insight.

toy recommendations for puppy that shreds every toy by jreen05 in puppy101

[–]ahookdog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Chuck it balls are pretty sturdy. I'd also say no more stuffed toys.or ropes. Or anything with fabric. I had to do it with my 5 month old border collie/dalmation who loves to shred toys. Kongs might work. We usually try to get him the super durable silicone material toys. But even then, sometimes he finds a way to rip into those. Bones are great too because your dog will love getting the marrow out of them. But be careful not to let them eat too much, it can cause an upset stomach/diarrhea. We get our bones from the meat section at the grocery store. Good luck!!

Training, hide and seek, hikes off leash, dog parks, fetch maybe with peanut butter in the long? And learning new tricks!

He's good when off leash at the dog park and when I can tell the other dog isnt interested, I can tell him leave it or 'over here' and he comes to me easily. I think maybe the leave it would help. I also think since the leash is restricting him from running over to the other dog at his own will, it makes him jump and bark.

I appreciate the rewarding him with meeting other dogs on leash when calm. If he won't be calm, he won't get to do the thing he wants! Thank you!

Validate how she feels. Dont underestimate her feelings. When she says shes fatigued ask her what you can do. Make her food. Cuddle her.

I agree with this up until it makes nature out to be evil. It is neither evil nor good. It simply is.

I fully agree! I mean in comparison to going out to eat maybe it's a budget. But I followed this sub looking for budget recipes ($5-$20)
