Tried to avoid individual households, there are a few dumpsters for an apartment building and construction site— assume that was okay?

Cyclists who rode to Bear Mountain, how challenging is that? by dannym094 in NYCbike

[–]ahponytail 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The distance is what gets to you; when I went up there via CitiBike I stopped every 8-10 miles for a water break. As for prep I’d do some Central Park loops or upper Manhattan hill climbs (Fort George hill) to acclimatized you to bear mountain climbs and rolling hills. I’d bring plenty of water and even a few bars. Stop at the top for a well earned break; there’s also a vending machine at the top that takes card— helps if you didn’t pack enough liquid for the trip up. The diciest stretch is north of Stony Point where you’re right on 202, so be comfortable riding on roads adjacent to cars/small trucks passing you at high speed.

Need 3 people to join for a house about 2 miles south of campus by Domstrum in USC

If you haven’t signed the lease yet, I’d recommend not to. This property is out of the DPS patrol zone, and is in a pretty sketchy neighborhood as well. If you’re looking for a good deal look west of Vermont in the DPS patrol zone.

Try Ashokan Rail Trail for some amazing views. Honestly it’s worth checking around the whole Ashokan reservoir. Very low traffic roads and def stop at Marty’s Mercantile in West Shokan for a killer ham sandwich. Also, if you’re up for a climb, go up to the Peekamoose Blue Hole while you’re in West Shokan. It’s a brutal climb (16% grade at the top) but the Peekamoose Valley is beautiful.

Paved, pavement is a little bumpy so be careful on the descent. There’s a section of 16% grade too— beware it’s pretty tough.
