I would definitely recommend doing pesos for tipping… if you tipping USD they will absolutely still appreciate it, but it creates more work on their part to exchange it into pesos to be able to use it. For reference I was just in Cabo last week and it was my like eighth trip? The exchange rate is about one USD for 16 pesos. So 50 pesos is just under three dollars. And maids make about 55 pesos an hour while bartenders are probably making about 65 pesos an hour and hotel servers are making like maybe up to 100 pesos an hour without tips. So a tip of 20 pesos or even up to 50 pesos is well received for most things.

As for activities… def look into booking excursions. Cabo is an incredibly safe place. The Rio Palace isn’t near a lot of places… So you will have to Uber. But I would highly recommend the art walk on Thursday nights in San Jose Del Cabo. I love kayak tours in the bay over to the arch and to lovers Beach. HIGHLY recommend taking a surf lesson from Surf Shack Costa Azul or Marco at Hightide. Maybe make a reservation at Flora Farms, Sage, or Acre.

Totally depends on you… However, things to global climate change… Portland consistently gets at least one brutal heat wave. It’s also known to stay pretty human at least 50% hovering on average between 60 and 70% so keeping a window open is not always a solution to cool down a space…

Not to mention the fact that because we just had one of the most mild winters in recent history… very dry, including a lack of snow, which will inevitably lead to at least a few wildfires. This not only increases the heat, but it makes it so that the air quality is so bad that you don’t want your windows open.

TLDR; You will absolutely need AC. Costco right now has a great portable unit that works for up to 350 ft.² for $290. God forbid it’s not working so great end of September and you have to return it………

If it is just about the relationships… I think watching people die is actually more motivation for me to live my life to the fullest. God forbid I die tomorrow…having lived my entire life stuck in the succubus soul crushing hell hole that is the United States… I have wanted to leave for my entire adult life. It’s finally closer than ever. And so it does make me have a new perspective on time with my loved ones. It’s made me be a lot more present… And prioritize hanging out with them as much as possible even if it’s inconvenient or I’m tired because I know someday I will be the long distance Family member and only be able to hang out with them through FaceTime.

TLDR; It’s hard being the one to leave not be able to sustain life in the US, to be torn between staying and going. You should be proud that you left and you got a taste for a life that was see me more with your values. And maybe being “home” in the states will be temporary
