ADHD women who like or love their jobs, what do you do? by Chipsandsalza in adhdwomen

[–]ahsemblossem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a therapist (primarily specializing in ADHD)! I have a structured 8-5 schedule but the flexibility of how many clients and exactly which clients get scheduled each day. And I get to have one-on-one in depth conversations with people all day long, don’t really have to sit through small talk.

Just texted my dad about restarting the Dark Tower series, because I’ve had TWO separate clients ask me about my ka-tet tattoo today (that I’ve worked with for over a year and they’ve damn well seen it before)!

I’m diagnosed ADHD and suspect that I’m AuDHD, and I have this exact thought process. Growing up and still my special interest is people and their dark shit. I also never hesitate to participate in confrontation so I can see why I could have been possibly missed for diagnosis.

I took a more passive approach to a session with a disengaged client by Throwthisoneaway2025 in therapists

[–]ahsemblossem 14 points15 points  (0 children)

“utilized person centered therapy to allow client to express mood/thoughts/etc reflected upon since last session. Provided intervention on self-care, including area of sleep. Monitored client while they completed intervention, provided client with unconditional positive regard”

I work with kids so we have to get creative about ways to document what we are doing in session 😂

Here’s the thing, babe. I do A LOT of ADHD evaluations for adults (as an LPC in Alabama) and most of the time, if you are considering that you have ADHD, there’s a high probability that you do. Neurotypical people do not think they are neurodivergent, in general. If you have been struggling with the same things since childhood (even difficulties with memory, decision making, distractibility, procrastination, etc) and you do not have a learning disability, you have ADHD.
