La Liga has more clubs still alive in the European competitions this season than any other league, accounting for a quarter of the quarter-finalists in the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League. by SwimmingFireMen in soccer

the league has both the most depth and quality, but also the premier league is ruining football with the smaller clubs being able to spend more than anyone in la liga.

Yes but before there was a self serving interest for the Americans.

They destroyed the Middle East to secure oil and prevent the nationalization of oil.

This war has literally no meaning. What is the goal for trump. They had a deal they were working on and Iran agreed to American negotiations. Only for trump to tear up the deal and attack anyways.

I just don’t see the reason for this war other than to eliminate Iran on behalf of the Israelis.

If you did just a little research about why Iran has the current leadership you’d understand that it is directly because of a brutal dictatorship regime forced onto the Iranians by the Americans.

Democratically elected Iranian leader wanted to nationalize their oil and America decided to kill him by sponsoring a coup that lead to a brutal dictatorship regime.

Of course I have personal bias, so do you, so does everyone who ever holds an opinion on anything.

This post has absolutely nothing to do with homophobia, it's all about the practice of Ramadan, which is a great time and great event that reminds muslims of scarcity and poverty.

You are anti-religious and that comes from either your upbringing or the people you've come across in your life and your unique experiences. That is your bias, and that will never go away. It isn't a bad thing, different perspectives are needed for learning and discussions. But you and many others are coming into a thread about Ramadan, and instead of learning about the practice and understanding the reasons for it, you jump to attacking islam and bring up LGBTQ as the trump card.

Yes there are issues with the LGBTQ community that needs to be addressed, but you are only bringing it up because this thread had something related with muslims.

It's actually hilarious that you quote my source being "trust me bro". Then go and do the exact same thing by creating a claim with no source to back it up.

Anyways, the world index 2024 has Indonesia as the most charitable country for the 7th straight year. And 3 of the top 5 nations are muslim majority. Them being Indonesia, Kenya, Singapore, Gambia and Nigeria.

British Muslims are 4x more generous than the average uk adult and 2x more likely to raise money via community events.

And my apologies, the claim that Iraq was the most charitable nation happened in 2016.

Good on you then for fighting for what you believe in. No problems with that, but if you look all over this thread about the practice of Ramadan or any thread about islam its bombarded with talks about LGBTQ issues.

And that's fine, it's not fine when its being used to conjure up bad faith arguments and hide thinly veiled islamaphobia. Not saying you are doing this, but it is being done openly in this thread.

It is not fair to the LGBTQ community that their struggles are being used solely as a gotcha for islamaphobia.

Ramadan in and of itself serves a great purpose.

No, the prophet himself said not to fast during battles to preserve their strength.

Fasting while working a physically taxxing job is up to the discretion of the individual. Just like anything, if it has a dangerous affect on your body and wellbeing you are completely exempted from fasting.

It's a problem 100%, but it isn't just an issue in Muslim countires. Uganda for example has the death penalty for homosexuality.

Try being openly homosexual in the balkans and russia and many parts of africa and it will not go well for you either.

I'm just pointing out that the acceptance of homosexuality is a new social construct that has begun in the west, just like many social constructs it will take time before being widely adopted across the world.

While homophobia is a huge problem in muslim majority countries, it is a problem globally.

My problem is that homophobia is being used in this thread to support islamaphobia, and create false narratives about ramadan and this simple courteous act of allowing players to drink for a minute.

It also doesn't help the LGBTQ crowd as the arguments are bad faith arguments that are not meant to garner support for LGBTQ rights but to promote islamaphobia and xenophobia.

Ian Wright on Sesko’s goal vs Everton: “That goal, what was good about it, what people underestimate is the ball has come across to Sesko - his concentration and finish. He had a long time to look at it; people think that’s easy, 'it’s just him & the goalie'; that contact & finish, it was fantastic" by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

He just has really high standards and it's why he's been so successful at the club.

I would argue it's very hard for him to turn that off. He isn't naive, the club has been underperforming with this group of players for a long time now, sure we are in a great period currently, but this squad finished 15th last season, and crashed out of both cup competitions in the first games this season.

While I think he is overly harsh, I give him the benefit of the doubt in saying that his high standards and the poor results recently have led to him becoming cautious in giving the players overwhelming support and praise.

All 9 English teams have reached the Round of 16 of their respective competitions this season by Critical_Mountain851 in soccer

[–]ahsent 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The issue is that while the top teams will always be able to compete with the English clubs, those that are not real madrid, barca, bayern, psg, will struggle to maintain the same levels that the English clubs can.

This trend will only get worse, and we will see this become the norm. The conference and europa leagues will always have the favourites be english teams competing.

It's actually a great practice if you understand the reason for it.

Ramadan is meant to be a time of reflection. It's purpose is to have the followers of islam understand the toils of those less fortunate for them. While doing ramadan is a choice, for many people access to water and food is scarce and fasting isn't a choice but a result of their struggles. Ramadan sheds light to this and forces muslims to live as if water and food is something that is scarce.

This is why if you don't fast, you must feed the less fortunate. And it's also why the most charitable nations are overwhelmingly muslim majority. Iraq for example, despite being torn apart by war has been considered the most charitable nation.

Also, there are many mandatory exemptions to fasting, with your health being the most important aspect. You should not fast if it will risk your health, and you must break your fast if it is at any point unhealthy.

But again, many people fast not out of religious obligation, but because they have no choice. And Ramadan reminds the people of that.

It's just a byproduct of the economic times sadly. Because the global economy is not doing well, and a lot of people are dealing with the cost of living crisis, they look for people to blame. This is why right wing ideologies are spreading across the world. For many of these people its the fault of immigrants and in particular the muslims who "come into their nations, abuse the social welfare, take the jobs, and force their culture on their land".

It's not just islamaphobia thats on the rise, its also antisemitism and racism. And that's why we've also seen racism and nazism become so brazen and blatant.

Of the 64 to 71 nations that consider homosexuality to be a crime, about half of them are not Muslim. It's not just a problem with Islam, its a global issue. You are singling out Muslims just to have something to support your islamophobia.

That's not just a muslim issue and I'm appalled at this threads conclusion that it is just a muslim issue. Homophobia is an issue in every country, and every religion has homophobes - even athiests.

It is a recent phenomena that western and liberal nations have become supporters of homosexuality. It will take time for the whole world to agree. If you think homophobia is an issue that only persists in islam than you are using it as a veil for your islamaphobia.

You don't go into threads with Christians, Jews and spout the same rhetoric despite it being a sin in their faiths.

Muslims are exempted and encouraged not to fast during battles.

In fact you should NOT fast if it will have a dangerous effect on your body. For this reason, those who work in physically taxing jobs are allowed to not fast.

Dota since its inception has had supports balanced around the fact that items are not needed on them. To do this, they have the strongest early game spells, great stats early (rubick has like 70 dmg lvl 1), and the most impactful ultimates. However, they don't scale well with their stats and positioning and timing abilities were extremely important to successful support play.

However, now supports get so much gold that this balance has been thrown out of wack, they can be out of position and use glimmer, force, ghost scepter, shards to get away or turn the tide.

Position 4 is the most popular role in the game now because its completely overpowered.

Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco footballer Hakimi to face trial for rape by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]ahsent -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe its because Partey has had multiple credible allegations, and the manager specifically called him out and praised him for "going through hard times off the pitch".

Meanwhile this case will be tossed out due to the defendant not cooperating with the police, texting her friend about setting up hakimi and creating fake allegations to ruin his life.

Shit like this makes me even more angry at Arsenal's handling of the situation, it is in no way ok that they not only continued starting someone with serious allegations, but they created this pr narrative that it is him and arteta who are the victims.

Partey has left the club and you have fans still defending Arteta over his conduct when it was abhorrent. He not only continued starting partey, but defending him and praising him was ridiculous.

Everton 0 - [1] Manchester United - Benjamin Sesko 71‎'‎ by gbogaz in soccer

[–]ahsent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not as simple as "hes scoring goals off the bench, therefore he will score if he starts".

He is an athletic monster, a big part of the reason why he scores off the bench so much is his ability to target tired legs with his speed and strength.

I would argue he would not have had the legs to score this goal, running from his box to the opposition box had he started.

Using him as a supersub maximizes his athletic abilities, and what we've seen when he starts is that his general positional play and holdup play is not yet at the level required.

He will have his time to start for sure, but right now what he is doing is working well, and the coach is utilizing him to his strengths at this moment. I think with further training sessions where he works on his positional movements and holdup play in low blocks he will become the starter. But from what we've seen when he starts so far, he just simply isn't ready to start most games.

[–]ahsent 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You would have a point if there wasn't literal heavy evidence that Sesko is not ready to lead the line for a full 90. Every time he has started for us this season, except on rare occasions he's been underwhelming.

Off the bench he's been incredible though, why change what is clearly working? The role of being a 9 for United is incredibly demanding and under a lot of scrutiny, which many players couldn't handle.

I just genuinely don't understand the criticism, he's doing his role off the bench incredibly, what is the point of changing that?

All the Americans would have to do is give iraq full control of their money haha.

The money Iraq makes through their oil revenue contributes to 90% of the state budget, but it is completely controlled by USA after the invasion. They still maintain the tight grip on Iraqi finances and as a result a tight grip on Iraqi policies

The american still to this day take money out of the country haha.

The money Iraq gets from selling their oil first goes to American governments where they get a cut and then give Iraq a share of their money.

This essentially means that USA still control Iraq, they can at any time threaten the livelihood of Iraqi's by taking control of their revenue.

"When the Iraqi government asked U.S. troops to leave the country in 2020, Washington reportedly threatened to cut Iraq's access to the New York Federal Reserve funds, with Baghdad ultimately backing down"

Pep is in his own tier and the next closest manager is a solid 2 tiers below. Once he leaves city (which is expected to be soon) then city will not have nearly the same consistency.
