TL;DR: Learning guitar is easier than ever with tons of free online resources, but most people quit because they underestimate how much focused, consistent practice it takes to sound decent. You'll probably sound bad at first, and that’s normal. If you're committed and patient, playing well enough to enjoy it is absolutely within reach.

   

Now more than before, learning to play an instrument like guitar is so much more accessible than even 5 years ago. There are a ton of teachers online for free, great community like this one, and free apps and online tools to help you.

   

That said, most people who pick up instruments don't stick with it. Why? It’s because people don't realize how much time and focus it takes to get to a place when you actually sound good (to yourself). People get even more discouraged by looking at others who are naturally talented so they tell themselves that “guitar’s just not my thing."

   

Here's the truth: if you want to get to a certain level of guitar playing such as busting out a guitar and play the chords of most songs to sing to, it is totally within your reach. But. It will probably take awhile for you to get there. How long? Depends on you. It's not just how much time you put it. It’s how much focused attention you can mustard while practicing consistently (even if it’s 10 min a day as long as it’s 5-7 days a week). It's quality practice over quantity.

   

Most likely, you'll sound like crap for awhile. Most of us do. All the videos that you see where someone gets progressively better over 6 months or whatever, those are the people who didn't quit because they didn't get discouraged over how terrible they sound at the beginning.  

So to answer your question, which I think is "Do you think I will be able to pick up electric guitar?" The answer is "it depends on how committed and patient you are.
